I like the openness of your set up, most of us aren’t going to be out in the sprinkles or rain anyway.

Thanks for this Chris, a clear and concise explaination of your power setup. I have similar astronomy equipment and will probably use your power setup ideas. Thanks for the links.

I have an inline watt/volt meter on order, and I will get some numbers when I have that installed.

I'm looking to give N.I.N.A a whirl and am looking at x86 boxes that will run windows 10. What is the brand you are showing in your video and how do you like it? I'm thinking I might setup a box to do dual boot Linux/Windows so I can use Kstars or N.I.N.A or others.

I only see one of the fanless Windows 10 machines I bought on ebay (www.ebay.com/itm/MAD-GIGA-AP34-Pro-Fanless-Mini-PC-DDR3-6-GB-64-GB-Apollo-Lake-N3450-Intel-/283572615754?hash=item42063eba4a ), and I paid something like $109. But any of the machines available with similar specs should do the job. I have N.I.N.A. running on mine, but I've only tested out a couple features, devices connection, changing preferences. It looks great, and I will be doing more testing soon. I have SGP on there as well, and that's what I mainly use under Windows.

Check out MiniX. I run one for my set up and recently just switched to NINA
@alpsalish3 жыл бұрын
@@jhandel007 I'm pretty set on using N.I.N.A myself and Sharp Cap. What MiniX model did you go with? I also was looking at this: Azulle Access4 Pro Fanless Mini PC Stick 4GB/64GB www.amazon.com/Azulle-Access4-Fanless-Mini-Stick/dp/B08DL4H1P4/?tag=wpcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUwpUdUnU40656YYwYg Otherwise, the MINIX NEO G41V-4, Intel Gemini Lake N4100 Fanless Mini PC with Windows 10 Pro,4G DDR4/64GB eMMc hasn't looked bad at all. I would remote in and all captured data would be stored onboard. Let me know what you think.

@@ChrisHoward Are you still using this mini pc and are things working out well?
@ChrisHoward3 жыл бұрын
@@alpsalish I still have it, but have not used it since last August. I love the size and convenience of these mini-PCs, but they have very limited storage (I had to use an SD card to capture new data). I ended up going with a more powerful I5-based fanless PC with a small but adequate 256GB SSD--and it's so much faster than the one in the video. But also larger, too big to mount on the scope. So, if your goal is to really limit cabling or attach the PC to the scope, then the smaller PC worked well enough.
