Next scrounge for your lovely build, a yard sale chandelier that you can put rechargeable ferry lights on to create a nighttime marker for the height of the building, just in case of drones being used in the area or hunting birds at night so they avoid windows if flying low. Up high inside the light would not affect but would act as a beacon.

I recommend gravel or rock and sand under the flat stones that you use for a foundation. A mulch foundation will rot in a year or two, and the ground will soften, and not drain. The walls could shift, and glass does not like to shift, it cracks. You want a strong, lasting sturdy Foundation

New Hampshire greetings from our family farm! You did a great job of collecting free windows and designing this green house. I like that Nike saying, " Just do it ! " I will add on to that saying, "And the rest will come..." Very kind and helpful for your viewers to share their green house experiences and suggestions. I really like the shelves you installed. Good air flow. Your seedlings are thriving! We needed to quickly design a mini hoop-style walk-in green house. It was a learning process, but functionally came out well. Ours is two raised beds. The beans and squash are practically coming out the door ! I am liking your repurposed window concept to apply to our future 3-season porch project off the back kitchen door. We have a vintage kitchen wood stove right next to that back door. It could easily pump excess heat into the porch area when needed. Plus the porch could serve as a nice spring green house, especially using your bottom heating pad tray method. Thanks for sharing this great project! ~Diane

Love it! The lean-to roof is underrated. Helps with cost. Keeps the water moving one direction when it rains etc. nice work. I think you’ll love the height as well. I’m 6’3” like you and a few of the greenhouses I’ve stepped into I felt really closed in under a 7 foot roof haha! This took a lot of planning. Very well done. Love the pallet base boards. Again very well done. That “Type A” planning saved you a ton of money. I don’t mean to speak for her but I’m betting that Mimi more than approves. 👍🏻

Good job, looks really nice. My concern is your lack of ventilation. We have a 12×16 window greenhouse, with 34 windows of which 14 open it also has 2- 5 ft sliding doors on opposite ends.. It has already been over 100 degrees in there this year. I would suggest you hinge some of the windows so they will open for more ventilation. We are installing an exhaust fan this week. We will be putting shade cloth over the roof for the summer. We live in hot and humid Oklahoma. Wish you the best!!

We definitely appreciate the tips. We are going to consider that as the year goes by as far as what needs to be started during the hot months. We direct sew a lot during the hot months.

Yes i was surprised that none of the windows open. Add a screen door of some kind could be a big help with air flow so the dirt doesnt get moldy. Great job overall!

I dug the perimeter of my build, mixed concrete & did a pour after building up the sides above ground level with plywood. Then topped the foundation wall with 2x10s (used rebar & huge spikes in the setting cement) Over the 2x10s I built the 2x4 walls with doubled up ones beneath & above the windows & tripled up around the large door opening. Wind shear is as much of a risk as heavy snow load which gets wet!

@@CattywampusAcres YOU obviously know that there has 2B a dream, a goal, then a plan, then effort (to scrounge big trash days or reno sites or yard sales) & accumulate main components. THEN you take inventory in time & do a sketch. Then as U start 2 build, adjust more minor things to go with what materials are on hand...then increase your net worth thru your own efforts of building infrastructure of any kind & hopefully making life easier & bringing up the value of your property...which is always an investment. THAT is why we must grow food or saleable decorative plants etc. on any land we are fortunate to own or can borrow. It is pretentious to say that your home is not an investment. Wait till you get to my age...70 & find yourself whining that you can't afford rent etc even with the very generous senior pensions & no work-related expenses & no need for transportation of your own OR can have paid off several properties despite low wage jobs, mostly to ensure lots of time with [my] children.

You have given me great ideas on finishing as well as construction. Cant wait for our build to be finished. Im building mine on a six by six feet recycled aluminium greenhouse base. As with my other two aluminium greenhouse I will be sinking posts in at the corners to help stabilise it it windy weather. I just need to find a door and all will be good to go. I've used the panels you used on the roof of a patio years ago. Lasted a couple of years, gets brittle quickly and leaked. Put new panels over the old and then hail destroyed those newer panels. Ended up taking it all down and buiding something else. This time I want a true greenhouse and I'm using old windows like you did and may try to use them on the roof as well but that may be tricky. A little tip for getting windows: find a window installer and offer to haul off windows they've replaced. Saves them time and you get free windows. Good job on yours BTW!

And he loves to paint so Lauren's art ideas including the chicken banner will be sweet. We are going to start a PVC pipe greenhouse for this winter and start gathering supplies. It turned out really nice. Great job! This should extend your growing season. You could always add a drop table, if y’all need more work space. Just pull it up when needed & drop it down when you don’t. Roots & Refuge and Reap What You Seaux also built window greenhouses. I just love all of them. They are all different but each is cute as can be. You could get a few more pavers & put a patio on the side with the door. It would also be great if you could hook up water to the greenhouse or put a gutter on the back for rain catchment. Jess @Roots & Refuge has been growing lettuce in bags of potting mix for the last couple of months or so. Just some ideas I’ve found from others. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. I've done at least 10-12 such window "solar space" dome from porches, some "lean to" (Yours is not a lean to) and free standing (like yours) You did a great job for a first effort. I suggest a small fan when plants are in side. That helps move the air when there's no breeze(for passive vents like you have(I trust added more) On glass glaze you can mix water, motor oil(,used works), lime, to mop on a "whitewash" during hot summer. It will wash away with rainfall for the next spring. Well that's my two cents. Warning: Greenhouses can be addictive. I have to have one. I just ...you'll see Hot coffee n new fallen snow.. Yep, addictive. 👍✌️🙏🍀

Aside from pure ventilation purposes, a fan blowing against your seedlings makes stronger seedlings. I use an oscillating fan. When it blows agains the plants small micro tears are made in their stems. They self repair which creates a stronger stem. Also beware keeping that lemon tree in there all winter. Spider mites love them, and will literally kill it. I don’t live in a super cold environment, I only bring my lemon in if we are having prolonged temperatures below 32, it can tolerate a couple of days, but not a week. I treat it with sulphur spray as often as I can remember and sprinkle DE over its soil about once a month. We are hoping to build something similar this summer. I hope we have time.
