While instaling, you can heat the vinyl with a heatgun or blowdryer, it helps get rid of product impercfection and loosens up the adhesive, making for a better contact and stronger bond. There are also vinyl instal kits you can get that contains scrappers, xactos and various cutting implent. For the price they are worth it, making your job easier and yelding better result in the end. Hope this helps.

Blow dry as you’re laying it down or after you have already laid down the adhesive?

If anybody else wants to try this you can use e6000 glue for the handles so you won’t have to damage the cabinets just be careful of pulling too hard on the handles

if you guys are going to do this I would recommend only taking off part os the back at first then stick it on and as you go on take more of the back off and take out the air bubbles. I don't know if that makes any sense but hope some people understand.

It would probably take me about a month with the cabinets and still only half would be done. I tend to get gung ho on a project and lose steam quickly. I admire your patience and I know you can't help but stare at everything everytime you go into the kitchen. Great job!!!

I just came across this video and I have to say you did an amazing job. You made the cabinets look seamless! One thing you may consider is using rub n buff silver on the hinges. Only if you want them to match the handles. And if the landlord wants them back to gold it only takes a little more rub buff to fix. But I think they will absolutely LOVE your upgrades. Simply beautiful 🤩

My daughter used peel and stick contact paper in her living room, kitchen backsplash,and in the bathroom in the tub /shower area she also covered her counters in the kitchen looks like a brand new apartment the peeling sticks are much easier to get off as opposed to the old wallpaper that I grew up on

I am on such a tight budget (including rent) and need to do something to my kitchen so bad. This actually gives me hope. I dont even have hardware on my 6 cabinets or even a silverware drawer. I had to put a dresser in my kitchen to use as an island and have any kind of room for pots pans and silverware. If i do something like this i believe it could look really nice. This looks amazing my mom did this type of stuff back in the 70's and it looked good for a while until the contact paper started to bubble and lose the adhesiveness. I would just go to Ikea and get new doors and draw fronts and paint the cabinet face frames and sides. This is known as refacing in the industry. Great job though!

Any suggestions on how to get the contact paper so perfect without bubbles or paper getting stuck together. I cannot imagine doing all those cupboards without a huge amount of frustration. They look great. I would never imagine that was contact paper!!!! Girl you really did that! I am in a rental and we have those same ugly cabinets. I am in the process of redoing my master bedroom and bath at this time. However, l am going to do my kitchen next. And l am going to steal your idea. I hope you don't mind. I just love what you did! My kitchen is much larger, and l am not going to do black. I have a bistro table with a granite top in my kitchen. So, want to play off that. l have been looking for contact paper with specks of brown, gold and black specks in it for my countertops. I haven't had any luck so far. But l will keep looking.
