How interesting.. Your opinion is completely valid, but what my perfectionist self loves about him is that he doesn't let any imperfections/complex problems discourage/paralyze/slow him down. It's inspiring to me, because it reminds me that the scissor cuts on the tile, sometimes visible glue gun marks, etc. are not actually part of the big picture, I just sometimes let it get in my head, when I'd be better off just doing it already. (my type of perfectionism is to my detriment when it comes to home makeovers, it usually paralyzes me and drives me cray)

I would totally obsess about a slightly crooked cut and he just moves on to accomplish so much more and I would have either quit or started all over to achieve perfection... not a good thing and I hate that I am like that!

OMG Drew left his hair products here from Function of Beauty and I thought I’d try them and the smell is amazing. It really smells so tropical like papaya and mangos I’m not kidding. I’m going to buy some that is personalized just for me. I’ve never seen this done before but loved the idea and I can confirm that the smell is soooo good. No the brand did not pay me to write that lol.

Actually just used shampoo and conditioner and happy to say my hair does have a tropical smell to it but it’s not quite as much as when u smell it in the bottle. Didn’t make my hair frizzy and was easy to style.

The flooring is not renter friendly. It takes work to remove and leaves a glue film after.

marikie marie Renter friendly means the ability to put it back as before. It doesn’t mean that it’s always easy to do. But stick-on vinyl will always come off of ceramic tile.

I personally installed this peel and stick wall tile and it WRECKED the wall entirely. So on the floor it was okay if it’s ceramic underneath but it leaves a nerverending sticky film. So beware ! Although must say this transformation is superb !

I have mixed feelings about this video. Not that the design isn’t beautiful, and my heart just about burst with how sweet it was of you to include your mom and do a makeover for her. But then you kept talking over her and didn’t include her thoughts on it at the end. Actually, without more context, it doesn’t appear you cared much for her thoughts at all. She likes color but you still went with your mostly monochromatic aesthetic anyway. We don’t get to see if this truly was her style or not. In all it seemed like making a video for your channel was more important than providing her with a bathroom she enjoyed. I also don’t see how some things like changing the faucet or painting the light fixtures counts as “renter friendly”- these are definitely things most tenants would have to ask permission from their landlord/property management company for permission to do. You include some really helpful info about changing the faucet and building the shelves though, and that’s appreciated. Overall I think those little details is what sets apart other KZbin channels from yours. You have a truly set aesthetic that many people are into and want to replicate. It truly & genuinely serves the right audience. But other channels are capable of multiple styles, and can really cater to a variety of tastes, and it shows in their “client’s” reactions.

That peel & stick floor tile is everything! It made an enormous difference, along with your Dad’s painting of the cabinet in that dark color, along with all the other black accents you chose, the sink fixtures, the shower curtain rod and the old man image on the pot. The shelves and subway tile really upgraded the look of the toilet corner! That feels like an odd thing to say but I feel it balanced this vertically there! Overall, I give it a Wow!

It will last if they add caulk to fill the seams. Otherwise, it'll hold up okay for a while, but it will trap mold in the seams and will be impossible to clean from the get go. I hope they sealed it before they used the shower. I wish more KZbin interior designers got imput from actual architects before giving bad advice on how to install products they promote. Cuz trapping water in your grout under linoleum peel and stick could cause nightmare level damage to the flooring below over time, as does attaching a new faucet without properly seal the connections.

I used stick on tile in my home as temporary backsplash. It will indeed ruin your paint and some drywall. Thankfully I’m not a renter so I didn’t have anyone to answer to but it did piss me off that we had to fix the walls.

When we updated out bathroom , we took the sink faucet off and painted it a matte black. It’s a great way to save money, although I love the Koehler they’re not cheap. So if anyone wants the look for less, paint a couple of coats then make sure you get a waterproof top coat. I’ve had it for 4 years with no problems. Btw the bathroom turned out beautiful.

Oh I feel so bad for his mum. If that was my mum my heart would have broken. You listen and respect your loved ones, their opinions are important. Especially your mother's, who loves you more then anything and only wants you well (I'm aware not all mothers are good). She seems so sweet. I stopped the video, I couldn't stand it. If it’s in a bathroom, kitchen or laundry room just caulk the seams. That will prevent mold. They last really well.

@@erin9868 i agree, but i think some of us have this concept of “renter friendly” procedures as literally no nailing or big changes. To me it’s like “can we put this back the same way with minimal effort” (light nailing, painting walls, etc). i commented on a different video not by Drew before about the “renter friendly” term and a landlord responded saying that most of the time the things people do in these videos are completely fine (albeit with permission). Also as someone who has done small things to their apartment (painted walls, nailed fixtures), i feel like some people are just a bit scared to turn their living space into truly what they want, which I understand cuz some people don’t stay in a unit for longer than a year.
