DIY Reptile Hide | Reptilian Den

Good Morning, Reptilians! Welcome to the Reptilian Den. I'm Den, and in this video, I'm showing you how I made a DIY Reptile Hide out of PVC. This one will be used for our blue tongue skink, but it would also work great as a DIY snake hide, as there's lots of room for them to explore.
What I Used:
PVC - 4'' pvc available at any hardware store
Dremel (the one I use, no longer sold) - Dremel MultiPro 395

That is an awesome idea and they look great. You guys are so creative. I thought cutting the pipe in half was a great idea, but taking the time to add the details to make it look like a tree was next level. You could also use any size pvc depending on the size of your animal. Thanks for another great idea. 🙏🏾

I am all about DIY. I have built a background with hides and ledges for my Bearded Dragon. I've been so busy with school starting back that I haven't got to grout and paint it yet. I may try the pvc log idea for my son's toads. I also have a Green-cheek Conure coming in 2 weeks. I have made him lots of toys. My husband calls me DIY Queen. Love your all's content. Keep it up :)

So cool!! if you have a small piece of string believe it or not, it will cut pvc like butter. Not dental floss thin though more like the bright yellow construction string they sell at Lowe’s. Just in case anyone doesn’t have a saw but does have string.

Looks great! Just in case you want to try it sometime, you can heat the pipe up with a hair dryer and bend it or put dents into it for a natural look! Just remember thick gloves!

Can you place a top hide in a 55 gallon for your ball python? I've been thinking about doing this for my enclosure so I can utilize more space inside his enclosure. Nothing too high up but about the height of his primary hide

You can maybe do you like a DIY water bowl out of maybe some clay I think that would be really cool or maybe a DIY like calcium dish out of clay you’re out of something along those lines I think a DIY water bill would be really cool though because you can make it look super natural

Haha, that is something that we just recently discussed doing. We were going to use iHeartGeckos conversion kits for the front, and try to remove one of the glass sides to accommodate lights. I might just have to try it now 🦎 -Den

How can you be sire the clear spray sealant is safe? Ive been doing so much research and cant figure out what's best to use :,(

So the first thing I did was downloaded the product information from the company website. This information states that this product, once dry, is safe for use with animals and children. Shellac is actually made from a type of bug that spends its whole life consuming sap from trees, and converts it into shellac. (The Indian lac bug). It's harvested as hard flakes and then melted down and used. Oddly enough, shellac is also a listed ingredient on some candies 😅 (at least here in the US), like Candy Corn 😬. Super weird, but I do feel safe using it. 😊
