I resonated with your statement of "some people don't even understand junk journals" that is so true for me. I had a "friend" turn and walk away when I was showing her one of mine. I almost cried but I decided then and there that I won't show anything I made to anyone ever again.

That would have been very hurtful, and she probably didn't even realize it!! Just don't waste your time showing your things to that particular friend, but there are plenty of other people who would appreciate your craft, so keep sharing :)

No, definitely Not ruined! It's fun! Never would have thought. I know what you mean about creating something making a bad day better. Creating just about always makes my day better. Even when losing my parents, other relatives, a pet, or grandpet, or any other stress, I have turned to scrapbooking about them, even if it is just one page, at the moment. Love your creations, and your talking through doing them.☺️

What a great idea! I have a wallet that I bought on a trip to Guatemala for my grandma, and she never used it and eventually gave it back to me. So it's important to me in two ways--memories of my trip, and as something that reminds me of my grandma. I would very much like to turn it into a journal, but I would want to be able able to replace the pages once they got all finished. I'm currently thinking maybe somehow just putting two holes through the wallet and the signatures and just tying them in there? Guess I won't know unless I try. Maybe I can find another wallet to practice on.

I love this. I think I would still use it as a wallet. It has room for a credit card and some cash. Then you have your money and your journal with you wherever you go! It is adorable. One more thing to look for when I go to the second-hand shop. Be well.

Thanks for posting this. It reminded me that I have an old wallet I prepped for making into a journal. I need to take a look at it again. I know what you mean about doing even a little thing to brighten the day. My son put together some shelving for keeping our shoes so our new puppy won't chew on them. Seeing the shelves (and less clutter on the floor) makes both of us happy.

This beautiful wallet is a wonderful find -- I doubt that I will find one but I will be watching for a good condition, interesting wallet at the Goodwill. This would make good travel journal. If the outside is plain, it could be decorated with travel stickers, etc. One signature could be of drawing paper or watercolor paper. Bits and pieces (ticket stubs, business cards of restaurants, after the fact photos, etc.) could go in the little pockets. A pen, pencil, small paint brush, a watercolor card, etc. could be in the zippered pouch. A whole series of travel journals from wallets would look nice sitting on a shelf and be fun to explore.

The wallet was a nothing because you were not using it as I would not have used it. I had one similar and gave it away....now I wish I had it to play with. It is beautiful. I enjoyed watching it turn into a journal. Much better and more useful than a large wallet.

A wonderflul and inspiring idea! It just came to my head: this could be a really practical traveljournal for short trips. Only some few pages and a lot of space for tickets, receits, etc. And, if the signature isn't saw in - maybe just hold in place with an elastic - you can replace the signature for the next journey! 😃
