Shawn, you are the man! That rig is very nice. As far as the colors go, that's easy, black and red (ISR colors). Can't wait to see it all painted up. Looked a little labor intensive so I'm not sure if this one is for me but well worth the thirty bucks for the plans. Another great show folks, enjoyed it!!

Great looking project. warts and all - thank you for including the mistakes as those are the same sort of things we all do. Lucky you didn't glue the base plate down first time hey, that construction adhesive has wicked grip. Looking forward to part 2 now. If you use any filler to mask the splits in the MDF can you show how and what you use as I am sure there will be some guys that need that little extra knowledge..

Try making one side first, cut the other close and then use a router to match up both sides evenly. You can even use a piece of wood nailed into the mdf or plywood to run the router along..

Why use mdf it's bad to cut (toxic fine dust that gets everywhere like he said) and if it gets damp it distorts, plywood costs more but it looks nicer and is stronger too, otherwise it's a good build.

Rather than paint I'd use Speaker Cabinet Carpet Covering that can be glued on with DAP or 3M Contact Adhesive. Most common colors it comes in are Black, Grey, and Charcoal Grey.

The glue is to prevent squeaking in the future. Ever go upstairs in an old two story house and hear a squeak? That's why.

I wouldn't waste time with a finishing sander if its to be painted. A nice belt sander would take off imperfect edges, hard corners, wooden joint grooves and ruff up the rest to be ready for painting quickly.

I Wouldn't Use MDF (its to Fragile) other wise very Good idea for Sim Build. But for me I am using Hardwood Plywood and using 2x8's in place of 2x4's this give base added height and more beefy
