If you don't have a friend with a bench press you can bend those cross pieces by scoring them with a grinder on the line where you want to bend it. Then when you hit it with a hammer it comes over easy. Once bend you can weld on the line again to re enforce the bend. Just an idea. Love the anchor and I have a ton of scrap steel to make one. Never throw steel away. If you have to buy a piece your pence will drop when you see the retail prices. Nice vid , Thanks.

Those antique window sash weights would make a good start on an anchor. They already have a hole in them to attach the rope. Just take caution when welding whatever it is you're going to weld to the bottom of them because they are cast iron. perhaps maybe you'll get lucky and round some up in an old house they're tearing down. Good video bro.
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
Thank you brother , this would make good anchors, if you filled a hole through the bottom and then made it come a part you would have to weld it . Plus you'd have a break down Anchor

Came across your video by accident, but watched it anyways. Some good info and tips in it. But I would strongly advise anyone and yourself use extreme caution tying a stuck anchor to a cleat and using the motor. You can capsize the boat if you're not careful, and that would be a bad thing. There's a episode of Real sports with Brian Gumbel where some NFL players went out and did the same thing, well 1 out of 3 or 4 of them is the only one who made it back to shore alive. Just thought I would let you and some viewers know about it.

Thank you for your input brother , maybe I should have chosen my words better I didn't mean to give it full throttle I just meant to break the tie strap. In all realities it should break with a tug from your hand , but I do appreciate you pointing that out buddy and for watching too

Excellent video. Curious if you have a suggestion on what the weight should be on a kayak. Also more diy kayak videos and kayak vs catfish. Hahaha Thanks
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
You don't need nearly as much weight on a kayak anchor and I'm curious too what kayak vs catfish means lolol you saying kayak catfishing I guess
@panchovillasmith82184 жыл бұрын
Fishin N Stuff Well you got some nice catfish out of that boat. So it's time for some big kitties to come out of that water via kayak. Tight lines bud!!

To account for weight adding in molten lead wouldn't be a bad idea.

I agree I wad trying to make it cheaper , and just see how it came out . Im going toi make a folding anchor and I'm going to use lead in it
@missile15065 жыл бұрын
Have you used this anchor yet? What's the water bottom like you built it for? Mud, rock, etc? Do you think it would work better if the bottom flukes were heavier and it wasn't so top heavy? Great video. Thanks for the inspiration.
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I haven't got to use it , I've got a new boat order and it's due in in a couple more weeks, I've been waiting 6 weeks , plus my Dad passed away 2 weeks ago . It's just been busy the past month or so , but I made it for the river portion of the rather large reservoirs I fish , but I mainly fish them in the spring when the hybrids are spawning . I think a heavier bottom on the anchor may just be a great idea , when I built this one I was thinking more on the lines being able to bend em to get the anchor unstuck of needed

Does it have enough weight on the spikes to drag the ground an grab in a sandy bottom? Or would something like concrete at the bottom of the square tubing help that?
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
You have to add some weight it was 13lbs after I finished I've got 2 anchors 1 is 10lbs the other is 15lb so that one goes nice in between, thank you for watching brother

Man I love all your videos. I am working on some of them over the winter getting ready for spring. My question for you is where do you get the pattern for your name to be spray painted? Did you do it yourself or did you order it? Can't wait to see what we are making this year.
@FishinNStuff3 жыл бұрын
I made it . Draw out what you want then cut it out on some clear stencil plastic . Or if you know some one that has a vinyl cutter even better .I just started putting decals on after this video lol
