DIY River Edge Floating Shelves

In this video we are going to built a live river edge floating shleves.
The shelves are based on the idea of live river edge which is made using epoxy resign and hardwood. The shelves are made out of hardwood that we found from scrap and later straighten the boards through sanding.
To make the river edge with epoxy resign we prepared the mould and set the resign. As the resign cured we started flattining the boards using our homemade milling machine or surface planner.

The boards were later sanded using 80 grit and we then went upto 1200 grit to get glass smooth finish.
To give the epoxy attractive look we added an LED strip within the resign and powered it using three 18650 lithium ion cells. A hatch was milled bneath the board and later poured with resign.
To mount the boards we have used a 1 in wide metal strip to which we have attached two 12mm rods to hold the boards as its floating in the air.
