Awesome. I don’t have a use for that at the moment, but who knows in the future! Definitely keeping this video in the back pocket for later.

Do you make those bobbins for sale?
@TheFishingHobby2 жыл бұрын
I haven't made any to sell, but I've had a few people ask about it so I may look into doing that. I will look around at costs for stainless steel spring wire and different types of beads that are available.

Great video sir. Thank you

@boognish. No problem! I’ve sold hundreds of these, they work really well, are small and easy to work with.

If you make these for sale I definitely want three.

I should have a video next week for them. I have several made and ready to ship, I just need to get a video put together and I should have that done early in the week (shooting for Monday).

Nice now add a second ring on front and use a piece of thickwalled coffee stirrer for your guide tube, it won't last as long as a fine stainless tube but doesn't have any real cost.

I don't really have a need for a tube for rod building purposes. It would be needed for fly tying though! I would definitely make them longer too if I were using them for tying flies. I've been using it for holding my trim colors for trim bands and inlays, works great and is small enough it doesn't get in the way either!

@@TheFishingHobby Ah, yes I am a fly tyer, lol I have done rods but I use a fixed spool and spin the blank on 4 wheels 2+2 wheeled bed, so the guiding of the thread is controlled solely by the blanks position. Takes a little more time but is workable.

I'm having trouble picturing your rod building setup in my head! Now you have me curious!

@@TheFishingHobby Picture pulliy wheels, not touching but really close, axle them repeat on a sliding track for the second pair. add three upright pegs at a 90 to the spin for thread bobbins, lay blank in the v groove of the pullies, tie end thread in, spin rod, I originally did the spinning by hand now I use a 12 volt car window motor and a speed step down rubber wheel on a spring tensioner, originally my dad's basic design, upgraded for multiple threads and more adjustable.

think three wheels in a triangle with the rod blank being the only one touching the others.

You should be selling these to us on eBay. Fuji makes one that sells for$21?

There is a thought. I might do that...

I have your rod wrapper and love it. Would buy a bobbin in a heart beat also. You are a wonderfully gifted engineer and craftsman. I am not, but enjoy my winters building rods and rehabbing garage sale finds. Enjoy my time rod building and fishing more than I would making the tools I need. But your are a mechanical wizard
