Very cool Jason. I’m actually learning myself. With this time at home the wife is teaching me the machine. That bottom looks difficult. I could make a video of all my mistakes & mishaps. Where do you get your ripstop? Thanks👍👍

Thanks Tom, that's cool she's teaching you. Very useful skill to know that's for sure. After you do a couple the bottom gets easier. I've gotten ripstop from JoAnn fabrics but it wasn't coated. For noon waterproof applications it's fine. My PU coated stuff came from eBay.

Thanks so much 🤗. I used PU coated ripstop nylon. I just went on eBay to get it.

Thanks for this! What do you use to seam seal?
@JasonOutdoors
@JasonOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the brand off hand but it's just the typical tent seam sealer. It's a small bottle with an applicator brush on top.

Usually roll top dry bags have some stiffening ribbon (maybe some sort of plastic?) inside the top of the bag "under" that black strap. You didn't do it so and the top of the bag is soft. How it works for you? Is it an issue to not put any stiffening there( and save some weight 🤭)? I'm planning to do modification to Thermarest Neoair pump sack by sewing the roll top to it so I can use it as stuffsack to pack and compress quilt etc. inside backpack liner (nylofume).

It definitely would roll down easier with the plastic but I haven't had any issues. I did add velcro to the opening to help keep everything closed and that helped a little bit as well.

@@JasonOutdoors Nice! Thanks for quick reply and especially for that velcro idea 😋👍 I modified the Thermarest pump sack today (removed original line with line locker and also the straps which were sewed over seams, then added everything needed for roll top). Original weight 55g, in result 60g. +5g weight is worth the comfort packing using roll top. Happy 🤭 Thank you for you video (encouragement to do that mod) 👍👍👍

Hi, English isn't my first language, so I'm having a translation issue. What does "less two seam allowances" mean? Does it mean that I should substract two seam allowances from "answer A from above"?

Yes you are correct you would subtract both allowances from your "answer A from above"
