My old friend improved his camping footprint by buying a large piece of “artificial grass” that he placed under his tarp. It kept much of the debris out of his trailer. That idea might work for you.

Nice job on the rack and awning. I was thinking I might consider putting those rubber tips on the top also after making a hole for the bolt to go thru. This would help protect the tarp from the edge of the pole and maybe help it last longer. It sure is great when you get to enjoy the wildlife like that. Safe travels.

Hi Scott, great job on the roof rack and the whole trailer. I'm building a travel trailer as well and same with you I don't want to drill holes on the roof. Would you be kind to provide the info on those framing brackets. Been looking for that in Pickering Home Depot and seems like they don't have them here. Thank you, Cesar

I got them at Home Depot in the lumber department. They were with all the framing brackets etc. I can’t remember their exact name. Maybe check online. Sorry I can’t help more. Thanks for watching. Scott

If you end up not being entirely happy with the awning, they make awnings for pop-up campers that might be a better fit for you? Just a thought.

Why dont you use a shade sail track it would be quicker and easier to setup

Didn't you say you were trying to keep the profile on the roof as minimal as possible? Wasn't that the reason you were taking the stove pipe on and off? Adding a roof rack means you can leave the pipe on
