Your frameless design is by far the best I’ve seen thank you for the idea and inspiration. I’ve been on the fence between a rooftop tent or a diy Overland trailer. I like the idea of the trailer much better but had concerns with Weight towing it with my ZR2 v6 Chevy Tracker with a tow rating of 1500lbs. Im a single parent it would be just me and my four-year-old son so my build would be smaller and lighter if you have any advice on keeping it under 1200lbs I’d appreciate the input. Also if you didn’t already know your heating options have gotten better with the Chinese diesel heaters entering the market within the last year or two you can get a 5kw heater for under $200 and they only draw 1amp on the lowest setting.

I have been considering switching to either a diesel heater or a similar design fueled by propane. I think it will be in the near future.

Nicely done! I'd be interested to know how the panel does laying flat vs. facing the sun. I'm sure it's plenty good enough laying down.

Inquiring minds wanna know..... What kind/size hardware did you use to attach your brackets to the pop-up roof? Did you use a backing plate inside the pop-up? On a similar note, did you use a backing plate for your awning? Thanks for your videos. They are very professional and helpful.

I used threaded inserts from the back side to give the bolts threads to attach to on the roof rack because I didn't have room for bolts and nuts because of clearance. On the awning , I used nuts and washers.

Hi Shawnee I am building a tear drop as well I just asking how many coats of fibreglass did you put on the sides in the roof
@shaweehillsworkshop42264 жыл бұрын
I put one coat on the flat sides and multiple on corners depending on how much abuse I thought they would receive. For instance the wheel wells have probably 5 coats.
