Hello guys in this video I am making a yarn twister or rope making machine, 4 yarn spools are mounted on a big rotating disc, and yarn form each spool passed through this disc and passes through a Encoder then passes through a guider and finally winding on a big spool.

I made that when I was 13 with lego and it worked with soft threads (but broke all the time when using thicker plastic threads (recovered from straw balls from a farm)), my grandfather had a big manual metal machine to make ropes back then, that was 1997 or so..

This is cool. If you added a second ring of spools rotating in the opposite sense, so as to overwrap the finished string again in the other direction, then mounted them both vertically, you would almost have a machine for making visco fuse. All you would need is to dispense fine black powder through a tube in the middle, to create a pyrotechnic core, and then dip the result into a nitrocellulose laquer to seal it.

Woah, what a nice video! Nice music! Nice Cut! And engineering perfection! Maybe you should add subtitles in Primitive Technology style. It would help to understand what you did because it's pretty amazing and complex!

Excellent project but this machine needs an extra gear in between the fixed spur and the satellites to twist the rope. Otherwise the threads will become undone as soon as you take it out of the spool. Great for twisting wire though.

Why are the small spools on the yellow disc rotated again by gears? Wouldn't it be enough if the coils were simply attached to the yellow disc?

people should probably see 'Barton Dring Grbl CNC Firmware Running on ESP32' he not only ported it, he added lots of extra stuff like 6 axis, Bluetooth remote control etc, very cool and updates the git a lot, people should probably start moving their designs to that 32 bit grbl now

Genuine question here. What was the point in making each spool rotate? It is cool looking and all. But seems like complexity for zero purpose. Am I missing something?

There are several errors. The rotation of the coils should be in the direction opposite to the rotation of the machine. The gear ratio should be 1:2 Otherwise, the rope will unravel after winding.

This is an impressive machine, but it’s hardly “do it yourself”. I doubt that any of your viewers could build one of these. They used to have mechanical rope-making machines. You would turn a big handle to braid the rope. Perhaps you can show people how to make one of those.
