It looks amazing! But how do you wash it when it gets dirty?
@austinlynn886 жыл бұрын
I made some of these rugs. My question is how do you clean them when they get dirty?
@GenevaVanderzeil6 жыл бұрын
I think you could spot clean them with soap and water, but I wouldn't suggest washing the whole thing. Alternatively make it in a darker rope so you have less obvious dirt.
@floramwanja37803 жыл бұрын
It will be tricky cleaning them is glue gun was used to bond it together. I thought though

I get it's 1 inch rope, I saw many replies that state that but how MUCH rope total?? please, what is the length? Also, what kind? Jute or sisal or manila?? All I can find for 1 inch jute is like 9$-12$ for 10 meters!! I'll check a hardware store price since I see you purchased it from one but knowing how large the end result of the rug is and what kind of rope/how much in length that you ended up using would be a tremendous help for everyone making their own, including myself. I'm so obsessed with this rug!! thanks so much 🙂🙏🏻🙏🏻

I think it honestly depends on how big you want the rug to be. If I were to guess, and based on my round rug shopping, this appears to be anywhere from 5' - 6' in diameter. I'm still trying to figure out how many ft right now because it is quite pricey :(
@Lara-jp4xk4 жыл бұрын
The length of the rope she used was 200 m.
@evamldr34965 жыл бұрын
I know this is a super old video and you probably won’t answer.. but I was wondering, what the diameter of the final rug was, and what you paid for a 2,5 cm thick, 200 meter rope. I was looking for materials to make this, but I only found SUPER expensive rope because of the thickness so it might even be cheaper buying a rug like this in a store..

The dollar store has rope
@indigobb2 жыл бұрын
I just did the math to roughly budget for myself (Im in Canada) if you where to buy the rope on Amazon or something you’re looking at 100$ roughly If you where to go to thé dollar store cotton string of this thickness is usually 2$ to 4$/50ft, after converting feet to mètres you’d need about 13/14 packs meaning it would be roughly 30$ for 2 dollar cord and 60$ for 4 dollar cord

Definitely! You may need to sew together more fabric to make it fit but you just keep adding rope until you get it to the size that you like.

Love it❤️ How can I make rectangle rug? Can I use glue gun?
@meerashah37093 жыл бұрын
You should be able to if you start with a line and coil around that rather than in a circle, although that may give it more of an oblong look rather than nice 90° corners

This is amazing! How wide does this turn out to be? I want to make it for my patio but don't know if it will be too big. Thanks!
@Elle-py8pf4 жыл бұрын
I can't answer how wide this one us but the good thing is that it's fairly easy to adjust. An idea is that you can make a circle paper pattern to try out on your patio. You can make the pattern bigger or smaller until you like it, then just make the rope rug to those measurements! (Anyway, just an idea! Fingers crossed she answers your question! ^_^)

@@Elle-py8pf Thank so much! That was really helpful. I'm so excited to try this!
@jessicadion71093 жыл бұрын
is there any way you can make it into a rectangle?
I just want you to know that it is a terrible idea to use glue in this situation. The glue will breakdown and degrade over time. Also you will not be able to clean the carpet at all if you use glue. The rug will fall apart in a couple of months- tops. Just use denim strength sewing thread and a whip stitch to secure the jute twine to itself. Much better structure for a rug
@Nikkaville3 жыл бұрын
How do you clean it though? Looks great, but how do you clean it?
@Elle-py8pf3 жыл бұрын
She answered this is another comment. She recommends spot cleaning it with water and soap but advices against washing the entire thing. Alternatively, you can use a darker rope to hide dirt and smudges.

Thanks Geneva, some of us here have a few questions, what size rope did you use, what kind of glue is that, and is that a plastic or canvas drop sheet? :-)
@GenevaVanderzeil6 жыл бұрын
Apologies! We used 2.5cm rope (1 inch), the glue is called liquid nails but you can use a glue gun or e6000 too, and we used plastic but I think canvas would work too.

Hi Geneva, New follower here from Australia also! :) Could you please list the products below from where you purchased them from... I'm finding hard to find rope that would be cheap, especially for 200m. Or if you can give a rough estimate for how much you paid your rope for. That would be soo helpful. Thank you
