A Hair Dryer works great to warm up the rub rail material as you go, much easier to work with. The white looks great, nice work!

It’s funny I ran across this today, I’m working on my 1964 classic 16.7 this weekend. I always have to watch a few vids to get motivated to work on her. This ol girl has been painted a few times over, has a million little cracks in the old gel coat, had to burn out a bunch of old soft filler. I’ve got the bulk of the heavy sanding done. Your whaler looks awesome man!

man! what a struggle with that wire! wondering if taping the wire into the center of the rubber insert ahead of time and putting it in, then fishing it through the boat would work better? just an idea, great video though! glad people like you share so we can all learn!

Definitely the challenging part of that job. Hotter the day the easier it seems to be. Thats a good idea taping to the insert. 👍

I did mine a few months back, got my kit from integrity marine for under $200 shipped to my house the next day. I installed it myself and it was a pain , got a bunch of cuts on my hands to prove it lol.

I hear ya. It wasn’t easy. Material was tough to work with. Not flexible even on a hot day. Once I got going it was workable. Tough to film it cause you really have to focus on what your doing. Right of passage brother. Lol.

Loose the screwdriver and get a thin blade putty knife and slide it along the upper track as you push in or use a rubber hammer

Tried the rubber hammer. Had a white one even. To no avail. So I had a very dull rounded edge screw driver. I know it doesn’t sound like the best solution but it was the best one I could come up with. The puddy knife probably is the better option. Wish I had tried that. Faster most likely. Man if theirs a next time. I will definitely try that. Thx u for the comment 👍

Those cleats were there when I bought it. So I reinstalled them with 6-10 epoxy by West System for extra hold.

So my rear cleat measures 13” from the transom. Front cleat is 106” from the transom. That is at the two rear screw holes of the cleat as it’s mounted on my boat. Now I did reattach with west system 6-10 epoxy. I filled the holes then reset the screws . At my dock I do use the front Norman pin and rear lift shackles to tie up . Those cleats I kept for instances where I may need . Like a dock n dine or if I can’t use my first method mentioned. I hope this helps. Send a pic of your project Audrey. Best of luck going forward. 😊
