Hey Jose, Chris here from Integrity Marine, great video! I will send people this link when they have questions. I will be repeating your soapy-water trick on the F878. I also saw a comment down below questioning which size you may need. Whaler bought the 29' coils from us for their 13' Montauk/Classic and 37' coils on the 15' and 17'ers. If anyone has other question on Whaler rubrails or any other boat to be honest, feel free to reply here. :)

Chris, thanks for the awesome feedback, thank you! Please feel free to link back from Integrity Marine's website! I also have a written version of the video here extremediy.org/installing-the-boston-whaler-rub-rail-restoration-part-16/ if anyone cares for the written word over a video version. I've pinned your comment so if anyone has any questions they can see your comment first. Thanks again!

The R1078 rubrail the only one that works with the 13’ Classic or will any of the Boston whaler ones work on your website?

Very nice. I"m curious what wire gage you used for the front navigation light? I used 14 and squeezed the wires into two tiny slots built into the rub rail bracket. In any case thank you for the excellent instructional video I admire your patience in completing tasks correctly. FYI I pulled together the costs for refitting of my 1981 hull, 2005 Yamaha 40, and 2007 magic tilt trailer. All told I'm at $4,700! More than I planned on - more than I realized - hope I have not gold-plated too much. The big splurge has been a new mahogany interior kit and cooltech bimini totaling $1,360. My old stuff was a total wreck. Burnt another $930 rejuvenating the trailer with spray paint, jack, winch, walk platform, springs, hubs, tires, lights, slates, tie downs, a bunch of hardware not to mention a new grinder. Salt water sure is rough on metal Hull work has cost about $500 for MarineTech, 3200, epoxy/fiberglass, fairing, total boat primer and top paint, along with gloves, acetone, a new orbital sander and a bunch of sandpaper. I sense you put much more into the hull. Spent about $380 on a new electric setup including wires, battery switch, bus bars, fused panel, voltage meter, horn, navigation lights, bilge pump. My old compass and fishfinder are good. Helm, cable and a extra nice steering wheel = $315. Motor service and a new fuel line cost another $1,100. It cost a lot but I'm feeling pretty good about having a new water pump, impeller, thermostat, lower unit oil, plugs, fuel filter, control cables, gasket on tilt/trim along with a clean carb.. With a new battery and who knows what else I'm thinking I'll end up at about $5,000. My guess is I could have gotten $2,000 or so for the rig as it was and it might now sell for $8,000 or so. Or at least I tell myself that. But my old 13' Whaler has decades of sentimental value I expect to gift it to my son-in-law and daughter in a few years. PS - I did not bother with new Whaler Stickers maybe I should add them to the list?
@ExtremeDIYGuy4 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for the detail, I'm right there with you! Lesson learned, whatever you think it will cost you, add 20-50% lol. I used 16 Gauge marine grade wire. I would go for the stickers. It would run you about $70 at Magicbrush for the decals, slanted state numbers and placard (Model capacities etc)

If I’m taking off rub rail should I fill the holes with the same stuff you used for your holes video with the fairing compound or use epoxy resin
@ExtremeDIYGuy6 ай бұрын
I would use thickened epoxy resin.

Steve, I learned so much from your videos. Thank you I have a question about courtesy lighting. I’m trying to find some thing where the wire comes out the side of the light and the back of the light is flat to the sides, so I don’t have to put any holes in the side of the boat other than the screws holes Anything you would suggest? I am looking for a blue courtesy lights.
@ExtremeDIYGuy2 жыл бұрын
I used these as courtesy lights. They are not specifically designed to have the wires come out the side but I just filed a little slot and did it that way. They may be available in white as well. (Paid affiliate Link) amzn.to/3PRTiu1

What was the reason for going 2 piece? Any issues with water penetration?
@ExtremeDIYGuy4 жыл бұрын
This is a reproduction of the original whaler rail which was three piece. I chose to use the two outer pieces and not use the inner 3 piece of the original system.

What would you recommend as a fix for all the old screw holes that mounted the bump rail. Would you fill them with epoxy and reuse them when remounting the rail or fill them and make new ones.
@ExtremeDIYGuy4 жыл бұрын
I filled mine in with thickened epoxy and drilled new ones. That made sense for mine since I am doing a top to bottom renovations. If just replacing the rub rail, I would probably reuse the old holes.
