DIY RUFFLE WRAP SKIRT - Beginner friendly - Step by step sewing tutorial

In today's video, I'm going to share with you how I made my Ruffle wrap skirt for this summer with a super simple and easy way. So you can make follow and one for yourself.

I think the best one I can give you is practicing and sewing any project you want. They might turn out bad and not in the way you wanted. But you will learn so many lessons from that

I didn't use the serger. I used the zigzag stitching and the fake overlock presser foot to make do it. And to create the ruffle, I kept one thread and pull another one

Thank you for the tutorial. I have sewed this skirt, but I have noticed a few discrepancies, and just several tips. 1) At 03:30, you say to measure half the waist size, but if a quarter of your waist size is 20 cm, then double that cannot be 32 centimeters. I think what you mean is a quarter and another half of a quarter of the waist size. 2) At 07:00, you say to cut a 200 cm piece, but everyone's waist sizes are different, and for me, the 200 cm was not enough, with one side being super short, so I had to redo everything again. Instead, it should be perhaps the entire waist size+50 cm on each side. 3) At 08:30, you say to open up the stitch on the side, but you can't just open up a stitch and leave it like that. You either have to reinforce it at the end, or one should have left a reinforced whole from the very beginning. 4) And number four, I wore the skirt for the first time in public, and it was windy, and the skirt kept coming up. Luckily, I was wearing shorts underneath. So whoever makes this skirt, should keep this in mind.

Well to answer you on the 3:30 part, first she didn't say the quarter of her waist is 20 cm, 20 cm is a quarter of her waist plus 4 cm. Therefore the quarter of her waist is 16 which is 32 when it's multiplied by 2.

If im making the same measurements you did, how long is the ruffle part? I mean the rectangle is 14cm by what? Thanks 😘😘

The length of the rectangle is 14. The width is 1.5 times the length at the end of the top part. So you can create the gathering fabric at the rectangle with the final width is the same. Then you can connect them together

As far as I understand from the drawings, the first drawing is the main body (back). The second drawing is one of the front pieces..so the second front piece how is it drawn?

The second front piece is the same with the first front piece. They're just opposite side together

Yes, I created 2 darts on the back to make it fit to my body. That's why I make the waist at the pattern a bit bigger than my waist size

In mini style, you can use 1m of fabric

Hi Jess! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've tried to make a skirt like this but my belly is pretty big and a soft fabric of the skirt fitted too tightly for me there. Could you recommend anything in this situation, please? I'd reeeealy like to sew this one but afraid that it'd be ugly on my belly again :(((

If you want to hide your belly, you can use a normal cotton fabric instead of the soft one. Or you can create the gathering fabric at the top of the skirt (where it connects to the waistband). So it will create the puffy there and will help you hide your belly better

Oh, I used cm, not inches. And this skirt was made based on my body size. So if you're not in the same size as me, you need to adjust it a bit to fit your body

Thank you for the tutorial. However, if 20 centimeters is a quarter of your waist, there is no way 32 centimeters is half of your waist.
