DIY S-Drive Max for the Atari 8-bit Computer

Great video! I've just managed to get my SDrive-MAX up and running after having bought an 800XL that came with one but, the screen touch functionality was broken. Replaced the screen and then had nothing showing - your video showed me how to successfully get this gadget working again. Thank you. I just now need to figure out how to use it :)

I Don't know why the algorithm takes 2 years to recommend your video- but sure glad it did. Great setup you have there. I binned my Atari's and cartridges many years ago - worse still I can't even recall what I was thinking when it did it! Sure I can play using emulators. But the real hardware is so nostalgic. Even waiting for the loading - I think we were more disciplined back then. You got me thinking I might just do this. Thanks again foe sharing.

I have recently bought a S-Drive and Atari 800 recently to re-live my childhood (The Atari 800 was my first machine). I found your video useful in showing me how to use the S-Drive. Thanks ! Can I save and load BASIC programs on the S-Drive? If so, how?

Good question. I would think so but I have not tried. It should be something like SAVE “D0:MYFILE.BAS” If not try google. I just added it to my list for future videos.

Well done!!! There is an updated Shamus but I think it requires 64K. It has all the extra C64 version content.

Thanks for this video. I was mostly watching to confirm the flashing process since I wanted to upgrade my Sdrive to newer firmware and it had been years since i built it originally, but i'm glad I kept watching because I couldn't figure out why the sdrive worked on my 800 XL but not my 800, and I thought there was a problem with my 800. They could maybe make that issue a little more prominent on the site. :)

I just found your video, could you tell me which one are you using on the " Arduino and screen " I would like to build one

For the Arduino I am using the one on the left, 3rd one down... under "Gooduino" atari8bit.net/wp-content/uploads/duino-768x1150.png which looks like this one: www.amazon.com/WWZMDiB-ATmega328P-microcontroller-Development-Compatible/dp/B0BV9XFQ5T I did not see one on Amazon that matched the "Bestduino" For the display I used this one - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EUVJYME/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Have fun making it!
