Nice job. The frayed edges make them look good. Been doing the same thing for years re-using heavier clothing tags made of cloth. They are made of a stiff canvas sort from an old pair of shorts. The stylish marketing ones that come tagged onto the clothing. They hold up well when cut into small stripes. Then I use wire or a staple.
@MMScaleModels4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have tried that myself, however I cannot cut the tag so that the edge stays neat. I always get fibres sticking out. Any suggestions on that matter?
@jeremiahwasabullfrog9574 жыл бұрын
@@MMScaleModels Hi MM, I do like the quality of the frayed edge as it somehow lends itself to more a wear & tear of the strap out in the theatre. So I just let it be as is.

Hey there. Happy I found your channel. Quick question.: Any tips on getting the shoulder belts (teh buckle and the center beam) cleanly glued together. That center beam is killing me. third attempt at this and out of 30 buckles, not one we usable for the model; most of the center beams break off the buckle when trying thread through or the buckle becomes clogged with super glue. Help!!!!
@MMScaleModels Жыл бұрын
Hey, I would suggest using CA glue activator on the beam and very small amount of glue on the buckle. You have only one attempt at assembling them correctly but it is the cleanest joint.

If you are doing this a lot, you should look at getting the infini "A" cutting mat. It is brilliant for cutting thin strips of masking tape.
@MMScaleModels5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I haven's seen those and they look very useful, not just the A but all others 👍
@ApriliaRSV4F5 жыл бұрын
@@MMScaleModels Yes the others do look good as well. Regarding the "A" mine is close at hand and has tape on it all the time. I was spray painting an oil tank for my Wingnut wings Albatros. It took me about 5 second to cut 2 thin strips of tape to mask off the straps going around the tank. It came out nice and clean. You can cut from 0.4mm up to either 1 or 0.9 mm, can't remember and not at home at the moment. I will be getting a couple of the other boards at some stage.

@MMScaleModels5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know the feeling... 1/48 is a tricky scale... Looks big enough but later most of the job is invisible. I use regular CA glue in the video... Sometimes I use the gel type which sets significantly slower.

It's difficult to properly drape a PE seatbelt so making them is much better. I use a black paint marker to draw the stitching, I get a neater result. For buckles, I do rely on PE or resin (too much work to do it myself). Good video, thanks!
