Interior colour for the cockpit was dull dark green, a mix of yellow zinc chromate and black, darker than interior green usted in other US fighters.

My issue is it simply waters down my paint and it turns back to liquid. I guess I’m not leaving it long enough to dry

I've been following your account for a while, but you've improved a lot in half a year.

All that beautiful and time consuming work, only to be covered up by the engine cowlings...a real shame! I have done many and have left the cowlings off to show off the work. If it looks right to have the cowlings off.

Amazing work. I have several planes to build and I learned a lot from this video. Brilliant stuff.

Let me show you a smarter way to do it. Don't ever cut from the original decal. What you should do is scan or photocopy the original decal, then use the printout and cut it from there. This way you don't run the risk of ruining the original decal. I usually scan all my decals for each scale models and save the files for future printout whenever I need it. Just always remember to scan it in its original size.

My intent was to demonstrate a way of work without any extra tools... I have a cutting machine which makes things easy... but who is going to benefit from such video

I have achieved absolute decal perfection more often with matt varnish. In my experience it can be more problematic to apply decals over gloss. IMO It's all about the smoothness and quality of the paint finish (before varnish) that is the critical factor.
@MMScaleModels12 күн бұрын
I get your point but isn't gloss inherently smoother than matt... all things equal
@TouTheoudoulos12 күн бұрын
Personally i dont even varnish, decal goes straight on paint and only use softeners, hardly ever had issues.
@Territory.Beyond11 күн бұрын
@@MMScaleModels In theory that sounds correct. Maybe there is something about the way the decal film adheres to a nice smooth finish that helps. After application of Mr Mark softer and adequate drying time, I sometimes lightly sand the decals with a fine polishing sponge. A final coat of TS-80 renders the decals faultless.
