+ Extra Tip (as pointed out by Reddit user Anne314) Adding an inch or two will give some ease and help if your buttons are pulling. I didn't do this personally but this may help some people. This is why making a test pattern first is always a great idea!

I can't see how you did the step that changed the scallops from being raw edges to a nice clean hem, how on earth do I do this?
@smellmycoffee
@smellmycoffee 8 жыл бұрын
I can do scallops from a straight hem, where you fold it up and then draw them on and sew, but I can't see how you did it here

+Mel McCaughey Hi! There are a couple methods for this. When I first bought this fabric I was told that it was special suede that doesn't fray. That was not true! So if you get the real, high quality suede, you can leave the skirt with raw edges. The first hem option is to just turn your raw edges to the inside and stitch. This method will leave a visible hem. The second option is to make what is called a "facing". This Colette blog post describes the method that I used with photos! blog.colettehq.com/tutorials/tutorial-scalloped-hem

+Mel McCaughey Of course!! When making your own patterns, I always recommend testing the pattern with test fabric before cutting the real fabric. Good luck :)

how much fabric should I buy? (and what fabric did you used)
@JadeElise
@JadeElise 8 жыл бұрын
Hi! I used a fabric called MicroSuede that Joanns Fabric said would not fray. That was not true!! I think I bought a yard and a half just to be sure I had enough but I don't remember :) Draft your pattern pieces and see how much you need because it will depend on what size you make the skirt!

How many yards did you use?
@JadeElise
@JadeElise 8 жыл бұрын
+Ellie Burholt Hi! Well it depends on the size of your skirt & the bolt of fabric. I can't remember the length of the bolt specifically but it was probably a 55. I would say no less than a yard, maybe a yard and a half? A yard and a half would probably leave you a little extra just to be safe. I need to start including that in my videos haaaah~
