Don't go into gangs, don't become a thug, don't smoke or do drugs, be honest to your parents (sounds cheesy but it helps A LOT), don't get depressed if the older kids make fun of you (it's natural), and be yourself!!!!! I'm going to High school for the first time this September.. I'm walking in without many friends, unlike in Middle school. I ended a lot of friendships because they were unhealthy. I don't want to be friends with my best friend anymore, either. I'll be leaving her this year as well. The only friends I have now are a couple people, and if feel alone... Advice, not only for friendships, but overall?

I have come to terms with the limited friends I have, and I totally understand the thought that you need to have the most friends, and be liked by everyone, but it is not possible. The most you can do to be accepted is be kind, because being kind takes work, and people respect that; being rude is easy, anyone can do it. I KNOW it sounds super tacky, but honestly it has gotten me places in my life. Kindness has gotten me accepted into orchestras, get better teacher input, and meet better people. Now back to the topic: Take a moment and ask yourself: Who/what is preventing me from being my best self? Like you said, end unhealthy relationships, and then ask yourself "Are my friends good enough that I can trust them, have fun with them, and logically based advice from them?" Separate yourself from ANYONE who makes you feel uncomfortable or treats you in bad ways, you don't need them. Another note, high school only matters to get into college, and/or learn basics of many fundamental concepts. After high school you will leave your friends behind, you will leave your school colors, your embarrassing moments, your logos and you will embrace the try to start over. High school will not inflict damage to your life, and it is important to not think of it as your whole life, merely a chapter in a book series that is never ending. Your legacy does not begin in high school, it begins when you are out 'there.' General Advice: -You may have heard this many times, but seriously, stay organized. It matters when you color code something, and when you fix up that huge binder so everything is neat. Some binder sections I highly advise you to have: Notes, HW, handouts -This is scary sounding, but in high school your grade counts, in terms of GPA, anyways. TRY your best. That is the most I can ask.

Don't worry about not having friends! High school is a time to meet so many new people. For my freshmen year I met so many new people and also became close friends with people I was only friends with. Don't worry too much about not having friends and just be yourself and have fun.
