You guys know how much I love scrap wood and coasters, so today I'm showing you how I made DIY scrap wood ocean coasters using leftover lumber and epoxy resin! This would have been a great project for holiday season, but I guess it's never too late to start planning for next year!

These are super cute! I just have one question about the top of it since I'm not too familiar with resin. Would the resin dry flat on the wood? From some angles, it looks like the top isn't entirely even/level on some of the coasters. So I wonder if cups will sit on them without being too wobbly and potentially falling over. Anyone know more about this?

Thank you! There’s a super, super slight difference in the thickness of the resin versus the wood. But, it wasn’t enough to mess with the glass when I placed it on the coaster. Another option is to do a flood coat for the top coat, which would even out the entire top of the coaster. 😊

Best wishes for 2021. That was a nice little project. Thanks for sharing. Those moulds are a great help. I'll watch the link in some moments. I'm curious if there are are other shapes as well (hexagons, etc.) I still haven't done any resin projects so small coasters will be an ideal start. Since it took me three years to buy a table saw it's still in the stars if I'll be able to do some resin projects this year.

@@diyhuntress I found them. That's great. At least they exist somewhere. Buying them in the US will not be very wise (ecological) I guess. I hope I can find them somewhere in Slovakia as well. I'll stroll on the internet. I can see tons of possibilities for them, I have an unbounded fantasy. Time is limited but my skills even more.

Thank you! Yellowing comes from the product you are using. I use non-yellowing epoxy.
