Great project. There are some excellent tips in the video. I'm currently working on a small table from a thick piece of 13x22x3.5" reclaimed cedar. I am going to put in a river channel with tinted epoxy. I have a few Kutzall shaping dishes like you, but I was thinking I would use a straight router bit with my compact plunge router to carve out the river channel. This way I could control the depth at precisely 1/8", so one pour would fill it (saving precious epoxy for more projects). I could work on the edges of the river with a flap disc or a dremel to make it look more natural/organic at the river's edge, before pouring.

For the price it's not bad. I've since moved to Mirka Sanders and they are a whole other beast. So smooth and dust collection is insane. But they are also alot more money. I used the Bosch for quite awhile and it did good for me. Left less swirl marks than others but still some.

Would you mind to elaborate on the epoxy router flattening and chipout problem? I am only getting started but I do plan to flatten my pieces with a router I just ordered because a planer is definitely out of my price range atm.

Just get a good flattening bit, take very light passes and turn the speed on the bit down. Most bits have recommended speeds.

What do you apply to the bottom of them so they don't slide around? Anything you recommend???

Can't say I've had that problem. 🤷‍♂️ but maybe an adhesive rubber pad.
