Hi Karla, I love the colors and patterns of your quilt and the scrappy patchwork designs. I made a portable design board that you might like to make also. It's just a big piece of cardboard tsken from a big box flattened out from an Amazon order. Cover it with a piece of flannel fabric that your quilt blocks will stick to. Clip it to two skirt hangers and it can hang on your curtain rod or any other place that's handy. And it's portable. It helps with quilt designing. 😀

Hello Karla, thank you for a video that is equal parts educational and entertaining! As i sit here quilting in my pajamas, I am using my design wall which is just a plastic tablecloth with the top tacked to the wall. The bottom side usually have a fuzzy cotton surface meant to help it stay in place on a table but it is a FANTASTIC design wall too!
@karla.created5 ай бұрын
Aww thank you for your kind words and great idea with the tablecloth! that is genius! i might need to take over a wall somewhere in the house to give this a go! love that you also quilt in your pajamas'! thanks for watching :)
@IndigoSew5 ай бұрын
The tablecloth thing works well. No spare walls but wardrobe has sliding doors so added a curtain rod above and rod pocket to tablecloth. Clips out of the way when wardrobe access needed. Also saw someone who cannibalised a roller blind to make a roll-away design wall. She pulled the blind all the way down and attached the tablecloth with fuzzy side out. Use to design and roll up to tidy away with pieces still attached. Pretty genius idea!

I used to make quilts just from squares for the front and a sheet for the backing and I tied them. I have since started making them the traditional way. But anyway, I always folded the edges over to the front. I didn't know anything about binding, etc. Folding over is a perfectly acceptable way of finishing the edges.

I have just come across your channel. It is beautiful. Well done. Even your cat agrees. I was going to just suggest that I would quilt the binding too, but not too tightly. When the quilt is washed it may become loose and floopy and so a few stitches here and there to secure it would go a long way to ensure longevity. It is beautiful that your sister loves it. Another suggestion is to stagger your blocks during cutting especially if they are the same. Putting the same blocks on top of each other creates bulk where the seams are. Staggering them, even for (say) half an inch reduces the bulk and ensures that the rotary cutter can cut through evenly. Thank you very much for sharing your project.
