I also own a toyota tundra crewmax and made a rocket tube for on the bed. One thing I did different was that I used 6" drain pipe or sewer pipe to cut down on weight. It is considerably lighter than sch 40. It does stick out of the back of the truck but i have a bed cover and made it flip out so I do not have to remove the rocket tube to access bed cover. Cool build they look great.
@SophisticatedRedneckery4 жыл бұрын
Nice. Sounds like it works great for ya. Yeah I was goin got use drain pipe but decided I wanted as little flex as possible since they would be up on roof. I debated but the weight wasn’t enough to sway me. Appreciate ya taking time to comment!

Great tutorial. Just got Honda Ridgeline. Need pole storage system. My one question…any ideas on quick release clamp system for the tube. I would only want it on there for fishing trips. Wondering if I can come up with faster/better clamping system to put tube on/take off roof rack between trips. Ideas anyone?

Nice job on the video. I'm getting ready to do the same thing minus the punch in nutts! One thing that i'd like to point out about the caps is even though it has a "key lock", you're still able to turn the triangle with a pair of pliers. I'm trying to figure out a way to better secure them. Tight lines brotha!

Does the heat inside the tube wreck the fishing rods as black absorbs so like on a 28°c day then tubes would be 45°c+ easily

Awesome video. I made a tube a while back but I recently just got a tundra with the same ARE topper. I was thinking of getting a prinsu topper rack and it seems to sit a little shorter than what I think you have are the Yakama skyline rails and tower. Do you think or have you seen a tube on a prinsu? I'm just afraid the U connectors for the tube will be way too long.

The brackets may be a little tight but I think you could make it work. Might not look as cool or could look better, flip the bracket upside down🤷🏻♂️

No. They got hot but never any issues. You could always drill a couple vent holes in the upper portion of the rod tubes and couple on the bottom to allow air flow. But never an issue.

What is the caulk for? Is it justly to keep water out?
@SophisticatedRedneckery2 жыл бұрын
The caulk does three things. 1. Keeps it dry 2. Acts as a glue to aid in keeping ends secure. The screws can wiggle around and fail over time. Always better to secure more than one way. 3. Plus if someone tried to unscrew the caps to get what’s inside. They would have a hard time getting them off when caulked.

They look great? How many rods with reels fit in them? I have both Open face and Baitcasters.
@SophisticatedRedneckery3 жыл бұрын
So I have for 8 combos in them but I’m pretty sure could fit four more. I mix the baitcasters with spinning for better fitment. For the spinning reels you will need to break a few handles down. So they fold in. Then haven’t had issue. I love the rods and they work great a year later. Thx for watching

Give me some advice please. I would love to do that to my truck about what I would like to do different mounting all of my rocket launcher tubes on my rocking system on top of my truck. Then have my rack for all of my storage going over the top of my rocket launchers so that way I could put more rocket launchers on the bottom I can go all the way across with my rocket launchers. Then have a larger basket going over the top of my rocket launchers so that way I'll have more storage and more rocket launchers for my fishing poles and even things that go boom. So I could protect all of my precious cargo. Is there anyway to put padding on the inside of the rocket launcher tubes the products that you store inside of them won't bang around and get all scratched up and destroyed no matter what you decide to put in them that should be a way to put some kind of padding or something on the inside of them that's waterproof to keep everything in safe and sound condition transporting it to your destination. Please let me know if this is something that you could implement into your project that you just got done on top of your truck do another video if you decide to try to put some kind of padding on the inside of your tubes please let everyone see that video I would love to know if my ideal could be implemented in everybody else's projects just like this please. I really do enjoy watching all of your videos that you upload you do a great job making exciting videos for all of us to watch keep up the great work I can't wait to see your next videos even your old videos that you have posted I'll let you know what I think of all your videos once I get done watching all of them. Sounds like you have some great ideas. You could definitely put a row of tubes then secure a rack on top. How you would do that would depend on your set up. I am not sure how you would pad the inside of the tubes.

I guess I could give you some advice you should have put a dust mask on before you started your project before you started sending your PVC pipe. Because when you turn your sander on dust went up in your face. So next time wear a dust mask or respirator for your protection you do not need to be breathing all that nasty sanding dust. Up into your lungs. Maybe even buy yourself some time back seats and put on so you can keep yourself clean in the process and all your clothing and maybe where are some rubber gloves before you start to keep your hands clean. Hope you remember all the safety data advice I'm giving you I hope you remember all this safety advice I'm giving you it's only for your own protection. You have a family we don't want you to get sick because you are not using your head God gave you. Please be safe when you do all your projects okay. I want to see you back on KZbin doing other projects and not finding out that you got sick and something bad happened to you.
