DIY Silk Strapless Dress/ Pattern Available

I finally made the strapless silk dress. I bring you a step by step tutorial on making this silk dress with a corset back as seen on my tik tok with & without straps. The digital sewing pattern is available for purchase on my Etsy (S-XL) keep in mind it is ideal for smaller cup sizes. Such a fun DIY, you can make a silk slip with a low back. The dress looks lovely ! I’m half way through and there seem to be an issue with the panels, I think they needs to be 2 panels cut with pattern wrong side down. Otherwise it’s not possible to have two panels facing inside with right sides out.

I am a much heavier curvier bustier woman, emphasis on heavier. This is such a sexy dress that would work for any size. I have made strapless with boning and I used a heavy molded bra and actually closed the back with hooks like a bra uses but I didn't have the open cowl part.....but I am sure someone with more experience could figure that out. I always keep my old bra cups after the rest of my bra wears out. I keep the underwire intact.

Thank you, and yes there is a chance of flashing your undergarments with a low back cowl. I recommend wearing something that is nude or you can add a modest planet that snaps off and on.

this is a more advanced pattern, I recommend practicing with beginner patterns, and learning how to sew silk first

Do u have any advice for sewing satin charmuese? I'm a beginner only ever sewed one long line bra. I have a bra I'm working on at the moment were the bridge and cradle are going to be satin but this fabric is giving me the toughest time and I'm ready to scrap the whole project

sewing with tissue paper helps stabilize the fabric when sewing but another trick is to spray your fabric with starch it stiffens it and washes out! It is very tough to sew at times, make sure you are using a silk needle.

Yes it will work great with linen cut everything on the bias as indicated on the pattern, the back cowl won’t drape as much, I recommend using a lightweight linen!
