What sort of white paint? Wayercolors are transparent and will not be visible. Acrylics or craft paint, yes. You can also use white gel paint or marker.

Salt is another way to get some fun blooms or texture easily. Similar to must bottle but does not water down color. Be sure to let it dry completely before brushing off the salt.
