In this video I build a solar generator for my son to use with his 12 volt compressor fridge but some of the parts are usable for other needs.

Sweet I just finished a 100Ah mini with solar into a harbor freight 3800 case. I used a 4x4 electrical box (plastic) to rest the charge controller on. The box covers the accessories and worked for some wire management. Thanks for the video and the great ideas. 73

Aloha Chuck, I just watched a video from last year of your old 991A and then this video came up on my tv next. A better idea than installing a DC switch is to use a set of Anderson PP connectors on the negative side so that you never have to worry about bumping the switch while moving the box around or during travel under your RV. You can also charge up the box with a smaller 10w 12v solar panel & LifePO4 controller from HRO mounted on the outside of the box that will work as a solar maintainer when not in use. Also, instead of having so many wires and terminal connectors connected to the battery, use a pair of soft 6ga terminal lug connectors sold at Home Depot for like 4-6 for about $4.95, I think. That way too, you can use a locking washer to hold the terminals down real good also. I love that drill bit you used for making those perfect holes on the side of that box. If I was to add another else, it would be a small DC button switch along with 8-12” of LED light strip glued above the top 10w solar panel to give you a long lasting light source at night or during long power outages. I don’t like the adhesive backing on those LED Light Strips, so I use a rubber based product called Shoe Glue, which is sold at Walmart. Overall, I wish you were my neighbor here and I could help with solar based projects that I specialize in. Talk to you soon, Chuck. 🇺🇸Todd 🤙🏻

Good work, Chuck. I’ll use the spacers and the right-angle connectors…great space savers. You do a great job explaining your various build projects.

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures I'd add a shunt to the box so you can see the battery capacity. The victron won't give you that data.

Nice battery box Chuck ! You found a box that fit that 50 Ah nice. I use the Powerworx master switch. Amazon has them or direct from Powerworx . they have victron as well. All I use now for my RV work. I put ferrite on my MPPT ones. Never had a RFI problem with Victron using ferrite on both solar and battery side. Love the spaced idea. I normally make with plywood . drill cut sand and paint. that works also. 73

I actually put a switch on the box, it's in the thumbnail picture. I have,t encountered any noise so far and I forgot to put that in the video, thanks for watching and the comment!

I made one a while ago with a 55ah LiFePo4 battery. I have a 150w inverter because I built it mainly for DC for radio. I put a 30A DC breaker for my power pole connection. After the fact I also added a master kill switch because the solar charge controller I put in has a screen and sensor that measure state of charge. So it would bleed off energy. The kill switch really helped with it being able to be topped of and stored and usable when needed.

I did put a kill switch after editing, the thumbnail shows it. Yes they need it to save the battery in storage.

Nice build Chuck. Was wondering when we would get to the fuses. I have built a couple of these. I need to find that Victron as I have a 40A Victron for my 100Ah Solar Generator
