These simple acoustic panels have made a huge difference in the sound in the new workshop! I definitely encourage you to build a set if you have an echoey space like mine. Thanks to LastPass for sponsoring this, check out LastPass here: lastpass.onelink.me/HzaM/MayCraftedWorkshop

It’d be a good idea to build 4 more of these for the high corners in the room. That’s where a lot of sound energy builds up and gets spit back in all directions around the room laterally.
@MrGarycharters5 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking. A lot of reverberation from the sides and corners.
@craftedworkshop5 жыл бұрын
For sure, I wanted to see what the sound in the space was like after getting everything moved in then make more adjustments from there. I know bass traps and other corner treatments are super common in the audio world.

Thanks guys for the tips! Just made these based off your specs and everything came out great! I would post pics here if I could. I would suggest making the space a little bigger in the dimensions but otherwise very helpful

I’ve seen other videos use old towels they get from thrift stores. Maybe doing a comparisons of the different fillings? One with the the towels the other with the insulation. I’d love to see that.

I thought Rockwool was supposed to be safe to handle without a respirator and gloves? Can someone please clarify?
@spilkspmilk67985 жыл бұрын
fiber glass is very itchy just not worth it for acoustic panels hence the gloves and the mask was just a little extra because being itchy all day is no fun at all

Great idea and the shop is looking great. I was looking into the foam panels but I just might try this, thank you for the idea.
@oldestpunkinargentina77665 жыл бұрын
If I make these with acoustic foam inside instead of rockwool (rockwool too heavy, and need them portable) how effective will they be ? Will they still be worth ? Thanx !

Work tremendously. Look fantastic. And they were affordable. What more could you ask for?
@frankthetankricard5 жыл бұрын
Those panels should work pretty decently but you put them on the one surface in that space with the least amount of direct reflections. The shape of the ceiling already diffuses some of the sound while all the walls and the floor are pretty much dead flat. Sure they're going to help some but the tools and furniture you put in there will have a bigger effect on sound clarity because they'll provide further diffusion. If you plan on filming in the office area a nice thick rug will help even more.
@WoodworkingEngineering5 жыл бұрын
Well, that’s a pretty good lessons of comfort engineering: you don’t need to cover the whole roof to reduce the echo 😊💪 One additional thing you can do is to add some more panels in a vertical position. That will help reducing the reflections in that T shaped roof. You can also made them “artistic”, using different colors, different shapes, different angles. 😎

What's respirator you used at around 6:10 mark? And is facial hair a problem at all for this? I like having a beard, but I would also like not to clog my lungs when sanding :)
@craftedworkshop5 жыл бұрын
It’s from 3M. Having no facial hair is definitely ideal but I still get a good enough seal to make the respirator work well.
