link to neodymium magnets-ali.ski/Fifsxf
link to whale set- ali.ski/4CXkH Hello! It took me almost 2 months to make these cases, the simplest was probably painting) the main body is painted with an analog of a raptor. The side decorative linings are primed with an insulator and polyester primer, then they were painted with enamel with the addition of a special effect (this special powder is added to the paint and mixes well), as a result, this effect is structurally matte. I lost a lot of time due to the fact that it was difficult to catch the symmetry between the grill and the body itself, since I cut a lot and finished it with a jigsaw. The grill itself is held by neodymium magnets, it is held completely securely, there are no any overtones and vibrations, I ordered magnets for ali experts .
For me it was a very interesting and not easy experience in building such an unusual speaker system, then how to start doing it I read a lot of different articles about such different designs as a maze, transmission acoustics, etc. All of their complexity in their calculation and cost therefore, many manufacturers make so few of them, but I was interested in trying to do it myself)) I accepted the challenge and made it myself!)

The cabinet work is gorgeous and the mix of color and texture looks great. This project is deserving of a proper crossover designed using the woofer specifications along with software such as PCD or Xsim to get the best sound out of whatever speaker drivers are selected. With this much effort put into the cabinets I would have used Scanspeak, Tangband, Peerless, or some other high end drivers along with an optimized crossover. Very original and innovative, excellent work!

Agree the drivers, xover, wiring and binding posts are not doing the effort put into the finish justice. Seems the focus is more on looks than sound, which is a pity.

No. He is not a genius but he has made a very nice cabinet very well. I made speaker cabinets with hifi componenents bought in Tottenham Court Road back in the 1970s when lots of people did so. His cabinets are excellent though I'd want to test for vibrations between the layers of MDF - I guess he is copying the idea of layering MDF from existing hifi speaker cabinet designs. Some folk have criticised his choice of components but it's legitimate to test a cabinet design with cheap components and, if it makes them sound good, build similar design for higher quality components. There is a massive problem with his making technique - MDF is very toxic to the lungs - he should have used very good dust extraction - those of us of a certain age used to mock being careful about such things - a lot of people have suffered the conseqences in their lungs

I also loved how you continued the shape the internal profile on the outside with the radiused edges, giving a glimpse of the function of the cabinet design. I will explain to you Mr. Blackwood why he is getting some push back on this video. People that are into good sound and have taken the time to research what it takes to make a good sounding speaker knows that this is more of a great woodworking video than a great sounding speaker video. He committed a few sins of speaker building but no big deal I think it can be corrected. First never mount the drivers behind the baffle unless you have the correct measuring equipment so you can see what needs to be corrected. If you can't see what needs to be corrected it is best to just mount the drivers flush. Just that correction will improve the sound. He could leave tweeter behind the baffle and flush-mount the mid so the drivers would be time-Aligned. If you are a content creator on youtube you know need to be prepared for the comments.

It's called constructive criticism. You can either take it as a "hate" and just continue doing things bad way, or you can learn something from it and do it better next time. +100500.

Beautiful work on the speaker cabinets. It seems that you did your homework as well regarding the enclosure volume. One thing though, As mentioned below take those speakers out, add some good home speakers. (Pride is a car audio brand) Then add a good crossover. The speakers might even be very high quality. However they are made for the acoustics of a car. If you added a crossover, did some work on crossover frequency, and added some good home speakers what you hear now will be much better. Most of the work is already done, your cabinets are functional as well as being really nice looking. BRAVO!!

In reading the comments gist in both languages (thanks to Google translate) it seems this video is not properly understood. It is not at all about audio quality as would be in the eyes of speaker audiophiles. The video is about accomplishing production artistry in regard to specific intentional cabinet design decisions that encompass materials, methods, tool choice, finishes and more. The functional result is not a primary or even secondary concern. Think of these cabinets as a sketch in an artist's practice sketchbook where the artist has chosen a specific subject, media and method to achieve an end for no other reason than “because I could” for exploration purposes.

I agree with others about the crossover, i'm not an electical of auido engineer, so wouldn't know what it takes to build a quiality one, but, if i've just spent that long making my own speakers, i'd think i'd look around and see what a good one looked like.

Interesting design for rear standing wave diffuser. Everyone has commented on the lack of proper crossover and tweeter placement. Why someone would spend so much $$$ on the cabinet comp board and then skimp on components is almost beyond belief. Did your cost of cabinet materials exceed by a factor of two or three? I don’t even want guess on total labor time.

99David 99 : This build is a piece of art, not an HiFi device. Besides, I built something similar once and even with a simple cap on the tweeter and no crossover for the woofer it actually sounded very good. Art is not about economics it's about a soul expressing its passion. I think it's a very nice creation.

@Tsrif Tsal Wow! Talk about slamming a total stranger! I did not slam the builder of the speakers. Nor did I call him by any derogatory names. I complimented him on his concept for his diffuser. As to building speakers, I know more than a little about the subject having built and designed several. My designs were not works of visual art as this design is in my opinion. Normally I don’t bother answering trolls, but in this case, designer appeared to take offense at my comments and he highlighted your response to me. No offense intended to the builder. He is obviously a talented cabinet builder.

@@jimviau327 I agree with you regarding the artistry of the design. My comment was ONLY in reference to a lack of understanding of basic sound design principles. One can mount a woofer and a tweeter on a flat baffle and achieve an “OK” sound with or without a cabinet or a crossover.

@@David-ei5lq if a woofer naturally rolls off at lets say 5000hz 89db then all you need is a cap on the tweeter, there is no need for an inductor, if the woofer rolled off at 10000 then an inductor would be necessary to shut it off at 5000hz if thats your intended frequency point, without knowing the specs its hard to to work out whats hes done, given the size of the tweeter and the physical size of the cap i would guess hes using a 4.7uf cap which then makes the crossover point at 4500HZ, Epos do the same design, just one cap on the tweeter, its all it needs.

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the tweeter is positioned on the right, on BOTH speakers? I know the majority of speakers are built like that, but when you're making it, why not make them true right and left speakers?
