I've built plenty of spray bars and found a way to make my holes line up with clamps and a drill press. Seeing Dean do it with a table and pen just amazed me, what a great application of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

graph paper. the grid will line up around the circumference and that will ensure the graph is running parallel to the pipe and then you have an easy way to space them!

Thank you for this! I just moved my Red Eared slider of 15 years from a 40 gallon tank to a larger outdoor prefab pond. I've always used canister filters but unfortunately they aren't rated to be outdoors. But discovered bio pressure filters for ponds that work like a canister filter. I needed a water-return solution that could hang on a brim thicker than a fish tank so this is perfect.

From a fish guy who's also a plumber just let you guys know, You prime the pipe because it's a catalyst for the Weld, Also you don't run water in homes in glued pipe ( well cpvc ) you run waste and vent. The glue you want is blue and it's called rain or shine. Love you 2's videos

I used this guide and made a spray bar for my 125 gal freshwater. I got rid of any air pump soon after because of the amount of air this puts in the water. Whole setup cost me $20 cad. plus I have about 7 feet of pipe left over. Building one for my 75 gal this weekend.

I really like watching some of the older videos. Great tips and tricks might go out of style, but doesn't mean they don't work! Hey, I still like undergravel filters and box filters. But the most popular these days, but both still work like gang busters! Don't worry, I actually have Co-op sponge filters as well hahaha! Have a great day.

I've been using spray bars since the 70's and the only thing I've changed from what you've just showed is that in large tanks and tanks with really high flow where there is even a 10% chance of the bar coming loose because of water pressure, I've learned that if you drill a 1/16th inch hole through the end caps and into the PVC, you can use a plastic pin or screw to hold it and that's more than enough to hold the pressure.
@scottevans40158 ай бұрын
just made a spray bar out of 3/4 inch pvc for my fx6. it worked great. i was able to slide the outlet pipe over the 3/4 inch pvc but i did put a clamp on it so it wouldnt push off.

Made mine out of clear plastic tubing which I heated with a heat gun after inserting a silicone bending rod inside it to prevent kinking. With the clear tubing you are looking right through it and it is invisible. Bending them took a couple attempts but it looks awesome. We used a photo of plants printed on back lit film that gives the aquarium an awesome 3d effect (It looks like it is 3 to 4 feet deep.) Didn't want to ruin that with pvc.

Daniel Gonzalez for the love of god and your sanity when you buy your canister filter make sure you buy a long flexible brush for cleaning out the tubing. If you don’t you will be like this idiot who was scrounging around for a impromptu tubing brush at Midnight. For the record a baby bottle brush, some paracord that has been hollowed out and a chit ton of stainless steel BB’s one can MacGyver a tubing cleaner.

I like using the hard black reticulation pipes for my spraybars. They all screw together so you just need the teflon tape to join it all together. No glue involved. Costs a bit more... but in the long run... it's all reusable. Unless you happen to overtighten a joint like I did and shear the thread off in it.

I have a spraybar supplied with my Cascade 1000. Works great! Have it on a 38 gal tank. This has me thinking about different setups. Taking the bar to the rear bottom and spraying up. Easier to hide as it would be hidden behind tank structure. Also, you could use cave for hot water applications as it has a thinner wall and smaller outside diameter. Hose adapter would still be the same at 1/2 inch fnpt (female national pipe thread).
