I was thinking about doing Froth-Pak in my whole crawl space but now you've convinced me to just do the rim joists and over hang and use batts for the rest since my electrical isn't 100% where I would like it!

I've been procrastinating on the rim joist insulation project I have due to the cost of froth-paks and the amount of issues I've heard people have with them. I'd love to get the pros in but live rurally and it's like pulling teeth getting anyone to leave the city. Thanks for the video!

Love the videos dude ! I’m wondering the same thing people mentioned in the comments about spray foaming older homes and creating moisture problems but I also hear the opposite.
@mateostabio50 минут бұрын
@@Wrist_bezel maybe it would be a problem if you did the entire entire house. And just created a massive ziplock. But the house is old and still a gazillion holes everywhere. This was important for the garage just more for the fumes. But half the basement is finished already and I didnt do this to the ceiling nor the rim joists.

I think I would go for the DIY sprayfoam because according to lots of videos on KZbin, spayfoam is great to fix minor and major structural problems on cars and I can then use the leftover foam material to save me thousands of dollars on car repair expenses.

Throw the tanks in your bathtub or large trashcan filled with hot water to warm them up before use. Even if house temp is low, this will help immensely

Set the tanks on a heating pad, or wrap them in an electric blanket. The foam on the walls will still expand less, but not as much as with cold tanks. As you spray the pressure drops as there's less propellent, and as you spray the tanks will get colder compounding the problem. Spraying too much at once could at worst cause a fire (unlikely but technically possible) but more likely it'll just not fully expand and you'll waste foam. Better to spray over after it's expanded some but while it's still tacky/not fully set. Knowing that you can, and how to, DIY stuff is great; there's no shame in getting the pros. If you really wanna go overboard with the insulation staple a radiant barrier up to both reflect heat instead of just slowing its flow, and to cover the exposed ends of the joists. Those are thermal bridges. Very diminishing returns, but it's an easy and cheap job.

Personally I'd go with Rockwool or something like that instead. It's gonna be a motherfluff, if you're ever going to change out or run wires, I imagine. Otherwize I'd make sure my wires were in conduits. On another note. Did you forget overlay music (or whatever it's called) on those spraying montages? Seemed too quiet :D Maybe it's just me. Thanks for another cool video, Stabio! Can't wait to see what's next.

you can get the 600bf spray foam by DAP for about US$870. I did my entire crawlspace walls and rim joists 2" thick with it. Was pretty easy if you maintain the correct temps and don't stop and keep moving. Was pretty inexpensive compared to professional. I'm sure the professional's charged many 1000's for what they did.
@Waveito218 сағат бұрын
$870usd is almost $1300 Canadian, so he basically paid $100 more to not lift a finger. Some things are just worth paying the pros to do

This isn’t hard work but you’re correct in the fact that the pros are the cheapest and most professional (cost wise) and they will always have extra foam for small (extras) so you don’t need to buy a whole new kit..
