I’m wanting to do this for my daughter’s dance, but also for my son with Basketball. Do you think this floor would affect the ball bounce very much?

Do you need to attach the Marley to the plywood at all or did you just lay it down? Thanks!

Hi Lucy, Thank you for the video. I am planning to do the same next week. Just one quick question how many construction glue do you need for glue pool noodles onto each piece of plywood? Thank you!

You posted this in May, how has the floor been doing/feeling? I'm thinking about building a pool noodle floor

Hi! Sorry for the late response, but the floor has held up nicely! I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're planning on dancing from home in 2021.

Hi, Can you tell me how high the floor is once finished please? Do you think it gives enough bounce for someone who does a lot of cardio aerobics? Thank you

How do you handle the door way/ not dance floor area? Do you step up or did you create a ramp?

This looks wonderful! (1) Where did you purchase the marley for the best deal? (2) Did you use 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch plywood? Thanks!

Hi, thank you! The Marley flooring is from stagestep. We used 1/2 inch plywood on the bottom and 3/4 inch on the top! Let me know if you have anymore questions

do you know how much everything costed in total? just for reference
@lucyasheppard
@lucyasheppard 3 жыл бұрын
Everything together is a bit pricey, especially the Marley, but I've had this flooring for a few years so we only paid for the plywood and pool noodles when we did this in the spring. I don't think the cost was too bad, but my parents paid for everything so I don't know exact numbers!

Do you suggest adding noodle pieces if I’m going to lay it on carpet? Is Marley slip resistance, I dance bare foot(Bharatanatyam) so I don’t want it to be completely slip resistant. Will rubber sheets(like playmat) work ?
@lucyasheppard
@lucyasheppard 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The Marley is slip resistant, but I have to dance barefoot on it for contemporary and it's not too bad! The pool noodle pieces are to help provide support if you're jumping- if you don't find yourself jumping much, I would just but Marley and lay it on the carper rather than going through the process of building the entire floor!

@lucyasheppard

we used tongue and groove plywood for the second layer and then just regular for the first :) you can get it at your local Home Depot!

Would this be good for all forms of dance? I'm a belly dancer and thought I would ask y'all how it felt to dance on it.
@lucyasheppard
@lucyasheppard 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I'm a ballet dancer and the floor's ultimate purpose is to prevent shin splints and other injuries while jumping. If you find yourself jumping a lot while you're dancing, definitely look into a sprung floor!

Do you think the pool noodles are supportive enough and allow for sufficient sprung? I thought about using some of these foam mats for playgrounds and then place the noodles with plywood on top of it? How do you feel dancing on it?
@lucyasheppard
@lucyasheppard 4 жыл бұрын
I felt that it was very supportive! It's a small studio and I am the only person using the space, so I might recommend something different for a larger studio with more people. As for the foam mats, I was told that too sprung can be just has harmful than not sprung at all, so I just used the noodles!

If a little bit gets on the Marley, it should be fine! I haven't had any problems with it but I also haven't spilled a large amount of water on the floor hahah
