Throwback to 2022, to that one time I decided to ventilate my stator cover in Millikan Valley. Time for some DIY garage mechanic skills and get the replacement installed.

I'm the same way about working on a clean bike... it's so much easier and pleasant. I tore into my DRZ today. It needs new tires, forks leak, all the rear suspension bearings and pivot point bolts need inspected/serviced. There's an ongoing oil leak that's driving me insane. That's all I know about so far.

It is yes. I filmed it for those that have little wrenching experience. When I first started years ago I was always terrified of doing anything having to do with the main case or block. Wanted to show it’s nothing to be afraid of and easily accomplished with the proper tools and knowledge.

As always I love your DYI bike videos. Recently took your advice on the gearing for the AT/ATAS and ordered new sprocket combo and went with your suggested 16/44 combo for a more friendly crawl speed off road. 👍🏍

Ads probably 4-500 rpm in the top end to get to the same cruising speed as OEM gearing, but the gains you make in low end “torque” for me is absolutely worth it 🤘

Dude if only this came last week.... I JUST replaced the stator cover on my Z900 after she slid like 80ft and wore all the way through the cover (ouch, at least the gopro was rolling). I like that you also employed the trusty "parts-box-stator-cover-stand" that I quickly learned about, only AFTER removing the cover did I realize how short those wires are and had to grab whatever was closeby lmao I definitely should have put the gasket on the cover itself like you did, my dumbass tried sticking it to the case and used an ungodly amount of grease.

Hey There Trav, I’m a fan of Ben’s but I want to let you know that having your mishap in Canada may have saved your life. You see, Chad who had his accident in the US was given Fentanyl and I can tell by watching the ‘When Adventure Goes Wrong’ episode 7 that he is still addicted to Opioids unfortunately. You, my friend, are very lucky that the Canadian paramedics/doctors refused to give you the ‘hard drugs’. Chad, poor guy, I can tell, is hooked and may be for life. Please confide in Chad and help him get off the opioids. Thank you

I decided to also vent my stator cover yesterday. I’ll be replacing the cover on my 2017 DCT model and hoping it’s the same procedure. Is that liquid gasket a specific one for the Twin or something that you recommend? Need to order the cover but want to make sure I have all the tools and parts ready.
