For the straight wire, a drill is more suitable than a slot. That way the tool end will also be stronger. The other slot is no problem.

@@WildWillieWarfield they're different gauges for multiple sized eyes! Plus a use for old Allen Key's that normally get thrown away. Or the size of Allen Key that you never seem to use! They're easier to clamp in a vice without the risk of it moving whilst cutting it to shape.
