Building a lumber storage cart was one of the best things I ever did for my shop! I've never regretted it, and the dedicated storage space has made a world of difference in helping to keep my shop clean, and a lot more orderly.

Good job building that rack! When I built my sheet rack I left an opening in the back to push forward sheets that are difficult to grab from the front. Or if somehow a narrow rip got pushed to the back I could push it from behind to get it out of the rack. As a fellow woodworker/cabinetmaker I enjoy watching your videos.

You can always build outriggers if it is unsteady. Maybe something hinged so it can be retracted when not needed.

I made a plywood/scrap wood storage unit like that a few years ago. I made it 8 feet long and 4 feet tall, plus dimensional lumber storage on top. I laid the one side back 15° and bolted my Milwaukee panel saw to it. So, my plywood stock and panel saw take up the same wall space. I can move my panel saw around or wheel it right outside to reduce dust in the garage. I can even roll the entire unit onto my tilting Cargomax* trailer and take it somewhere else with my plywood stock already on board. * look them up; they're awesome!

If you don't extend the build at least a couple of inches higher you won't be able to fit more than a couple of full sheets of plywood. The plywood has to lean in order to fit and you won't be able to fit in more than a couple of sheets. I built something similar to this and added an additional 3.5" of overhead space.

I had started to build something similar, but I was worried about the strength/ stability/. From your video, it looks like this plan is solid. I decided to build it and it is quite the beast. I made it a little bit wider to hold more and also extended the bottom to 60"to help support Baltic 5x5 sheets. I do kinda wonder why you did all of your pocket holes with the sheet standing up on end. I drilled all mine with a simple clamp on jig while every thing was laying down, much easier. This definitely keeps my sheet goods more organized and contained. I don't have to move a bunch of other peices to get the one I want. In my opinion a much more efficient way to store sheet goods.

How do I store my plywood? I don't. It's been in my way for a little over 2 years now (hurricane shutters), but I've slowly turned it into shelving and cabinets of various sorts, some of which is storage for other lumber and tools. I'm finally getting towards the end of my supply though. Cool cabinet. I wish I thought of this in 2017. LOL

I thought about it, but the plywood has to lean, standing straight up is a no go. It would be too tight. Unless I extend the plywood. More than likely that will always be an unusable spot. I like the handle being tucked away.
