I LOVE IT. The best design so far on YT. That is a plywood cart I will definitely build for myself. Also genial are the half-lab frames.

@@Benham_Design A true craftsman, you show your dedication to the craft when the cabinets and carts you make for your shop are of higher quality construction, fit, and finish than what most high end cabinet companies offer.

Brian, A lot of your designs are a bit modern for my personal liking, but ban do I love the stuff you are doing to organize your shop! This cart is very nice… I also do a ton of metal fabrication & this give me incredible ideas for a metal scrap cart as well, both stationary and mobile…. Thanks for sharing. Even your modern designs give me great tips and ideas. Thanks again.

Awseome, I'm glad I'm giving you some ideas. I often get ideas from styles, I'm not fond of as well. I think the key is appreciating the design effort even though it's not my aesthetic.

This design solves one of the problems I had with the plywood storage cart I built. With the separated ares for smaller scraps, it's much easier to find what you're looking for. Mine just had a single vertical frame in the middle that everything leaned up against. The other main problem with mine was that it was too heavy to move around. I think better casters and a more rigid vertical frame would have helped. Hope yours works better for you than mine did for me. It certainly is more functional and looks much better. Thanks for sharing!

Thank Seth, so far so good. For sure a bigger caster will help a heavy cart roll. I'm definitely not winning any speed races with all the weight I have in mine. Lol

Great looking storage rack Brian. I really like seeing the plywood in the center like you have it. Now if I could adapt this to something that hangs from the ceiling, I might have something that would work in my shop!!!

We could possibly attach it to the car lift.

Awesome! I just made a cart that was nowhere near as well designed- but for me it worked. Liked your use of lap joints and lighter weight frames.

Great design~! I've been tossing around ideas for what to build for my own: mobile, stationary, plywood running long or upright. I'm lucky enough that shop space doesn't dictate a compact solution, but going round and round on which way to go nonetheless. Thanks for sharing~!

Love the design. Torsion box strong. I don’t know how many times I see people measuring out and cutting on the right hand side if the miter saw. That always seemed awkward to me so I have done it on the left side forever. Just seems more natural. Side note, the Colorado School of Mining Football team has had their dinners here quite often when they come to southern Utah.
@Benham_Design

Yeah, I agree, I'm right handed so it seems awkward to put the material on the right side and operate the saw with the left hand. I guess it all depends on what hand is your dominant hand. I tend to go with comfort unless the operation dictates otherwise. I'm sure we are going to crush Utah this fall😜 lol

I went to Dixie Jr. College back in 77/78 and my wife went to Dixie State in 93 but they have become so politicaly correct and just had to get rid of the Dixie Name, 9against the cities wishes) that they are now Utah Tech University, and noone here cares if they win or loose. I don't think we have played you guys for a while though. But the team was always nice whan they came here. I work at the convention center here. It's the only place big enough to feed them all at once.

Love this shop cart and the video! However, why not face the exotic woods side into the shop, and hide the scrap wood against the wall? Better aesthetics - and inspiration. Also, what’s the best way to cut half laps without a dado?
@Benham_Design
@Benham_Design 10 ай бұрын
I used the exotics less, than the other stuff, so I put the stuff I use most in front. If you don't have a dado stack, a good router plane will get the job done.

Hey nice video. I have been wanting a scrap wood solution. BTW, you only get kickback on through cuts. You could have safely left your spacer in for the half-laps.

First of all, Great build and video. I love your "New Yankee Workshop" sticker on your Unisaw. Norm was the inspiration for me back in the day. Now if I may ask. Where do you get your rough lumber? I live north and west of you. Austins or Paxton's are what I have used in the past. Just curious where you get your lumber. Sorry so long and Thanks again for sharing!

Great system except plywood should always be stored flat or it will warp. Doesn't make much sense to store wood that will end up driving you crazy when you go to use it. Maybe a system hanging from the ceiling that allows it to be horizontal?
@Benham_Design
@Benham_Design 9 ай бұрын
I haven't really had any issues with my plywood warping in this rack. However, I don't generally keep full sheets in there very long as I buy what I need and use it right away. The cart is mostly dedicated to scrap so I think it is getting the job done with a minimal footprint.

Turned out nice, but a little overkill IMHO. I built a plywood rolling cart without using a torsion box design and it is still as rigid as the day I built it.
