Could I add food coloring to make them different colors?

I think it would change the color of the fluid but I do not know if the camphor with be influenced. It would be great if you test this to post a comment about it!

I will have to look that up. I would think it would work much like regular ethanol. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have wondered if pressure effects the type of crystals that form but since it is sealed container I don't see how that would be possible unless it has a diaphragm, the one I have does not. I could see how it would maybe somewhat predict weather if it was a function of pressure and temperature.

That is a good question. I would think that the lid of the jar could change slightly with pressure and the air on the top on the container would also change pressure with temperature. It is and interesting question that would take considerable investigation to figure out the different factors.

@@RyanMake Yeah the lid of the jar might deflect some. it would be interesting to use a rubber lid maybe a balloon, then see if their is any difference from one with a solid lid. I also doubt that they can predict weather but if it was affected by barometric pressure then I can see it having a chance. I wonder if the original had a diaphragm. I know water forms different crystal structures when frozen under different pressures.
