Looks nice! Great job... for someone admitting your not to be a handyman, I think you did a great job...smart and resourceful creating the pots, using "L" brackets for support, then adding quick concrete, filling with stones, topping with dirt and pretty flowers, adding drain holes.. Then adding wire cable for additional support for your lights...well thought out & executed. I enjoyed watching & learning from you...Thank you for sharing

FYI for anyone considering building these. Concrete is porous and sucks up moisture out of wood causing wood to rot quickly. You need to use the chemical presure treated wood that looks brown in color.
@Marlon_Torres3 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the 4x4? If so, the ones I used are pressure treated; and are environmentally friendly, are effective against termites, rot and fungal decay, and can be painted or stained. Thanks for the info!

Great work! I've looked at many videos and yours seems to be the closest to what I'm trying to do. Few questions... Are the wood posts 4"x4"x8'? How did the resin barrels hold up? I think I'm looking at the exact same barrel. Finally, how much concrete did you use total? Was that one sack per barrel? Was it too much/little/just right? Looking forward to seeing more videos!
@Marlon_Torres3 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren, they are holding up well, even after a few storms. the posts are 4x4x8 (pressure treated), but looking back I wish I would have bought the 4x4x12 just to get the lights up a bit higher. I ended up using one bag of concrete in each planter. It works, but if I had to do all over again I probably would have added half a bag more to each. Hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by!
@nahnisjourney14063 жыл бұрын
See, you did it.
@andrewsilverman86092 жыл бұрын
Hey man this looks great! A year later, how's it still holding up, was that the right amount of concrete? Also did you put in annuals or perennials for plants?
@Marlon_Torres2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, they are holding up great! I switched the plants out for poinsettias. If I had to do it all over again I would probably add about half a bag more of Quik Crete to each planter, but overall no issues with them.

Great video. Question.. I did the same and like you said prior, I would have added more cement. Any ideas on how to anchor it at this point?
@Marlon_Torres3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph, mine have been holding up just fine for now. The only thing I can think of for mine is anchoring it to the actual fence post, but for now I don't have that need. Are yours tilting and falling over?
@josephvasquez96873 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately one is tilting no matter which angle you turn it. I think it may be because of the type of cobblestone used before I bought the house. I’m going to anchor it on the vinyl fencing. Let’s see how that goes. Lol
@maemiller7823 ай бұрын
Did you anchor to your vinyl fence? How did you work out? I’m considering anchoring my vinyl fence as well. Thanks!

@Marlon_Torres2 жыл бұрын
They are holding up just fine. The plants not so much though LOL, that’s on me.
@BasikVids_4_Life3 жыл бұрын
Since it's plastic you probably could have used long heavy duty stakes right through the pot and into the ground to secure the pots then 1 bag cement. Just my 2 cents!
@Marlon_Torres3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea! If I need to do another one of these I will try that. Thanks!
@florinewoodward13153 жыл бұрын
Hey Marlon, That looks great thank you for sharing. How are the planters holding up? I see you added one bag of rock and cement for the 4 by 4 posts. Was that enough cement to stabilize the posts?
@Marlon_Torres3 жыл бұрын
Hello Florine, they are up and doing just fine. No tipping over, no issues, but if I did it again I would add at least another half bag of cement to each of the pots just to make it sturdier. I hope that helps.
