In France we call that "polynesian arrow", i was making a lot of these when young, and if you don't turn the rope twice around the arrow...you will throw it two time longer!!!lol! Of course if you hold it straight, you dont loose energy when you release it....(and it won't give any rotation to roll the rope around, just loose power and accuracy)

Felix! I remember seeing a weapon similar to this, but the string is tied to the end of a stick for leverage so it works like a cross between the Swiss arrow and an atlatl. Made these as a kid some 40 years ago and they were called French arrows back then used cardboard for fletches and sometimes we would use bamboo for the shaft other times we would use dowel which is a little heavier, we could get 60to 70m on a good throw.

This is exactly how we made ours as kids. We borrowed bamboo sticks from peoples gardens lol then used cereal boxes cut up for the flights and then used our shoe laces lol even as a kid of around 10 or 11 we could throw them as far as a football pitch.

Dear Felix, sir, fuck them couch potatoes. You're wonderful and so is your test. At least you're having fun. I'd fill up my gas tank to the brim and drive the car to have a beer with you. In a side note, the ancient Greeks had a spear thrown the similar way. They would notch it almost identically, but they would wrap the strain around the shaft a couple of times and pinch the string with the index finger and thumb. The spear would rest between the same two fingers as well, and positioned ahead of the notch. I forgot the name, though. Give me a moment or two. Cheers from Croatia.

Also insgesamt schon eine ziemlich clevere Pfeil-Wurf-Technik. Danke für‘s Zeigen! Beste Grüße ... Thomas

Very good, informative video. I'm going to make a Swiss arrow. I've had Swiss Victorinox knife for decades but only used it a few times. It's time for me to get it out and get familiar with it. Thanks for the video.
