FYI, I'm not sure how you have the wastegate routed but you need to reference boost between the compressor and the throttle blade. If you are referencing the intake manifold for wastegate, this is why you're overspinning the turbo part throttle. Also might be the part of the stumble issue as well. As always. Great content. Love your builds.

​@boostedswapswhen the throttle is mostly closed, you experience a pressure difference on both sides of the plate. Less pressure exists below the plate (intake). The gate stays closed and the turbo pounds air against a mostly closed throttle blade. I'm almost certain this is what's going on here. I've personally run into this issue myself, which is why I even offered the information. Moving the gate source to the turbo side of the blade fixed this issue for me.

For sure good point about the waste gate referencing. Could the bog down also be from a bad vacuum adjusting the timing, because they are using the different manifold with the original carb setup from before?

15:09 have you seen the plastic trick? I think I saw it on TikTok. Someone took some thick stuff, like for vapour barrier, put it over top of the retainer and loose keepers, and as soon as the compressor pushed down, the keepers fell in place!

Love the s10 project, way to go guys! Word to the wise... you need to check spring install height to the cams recommendation. At least half the time you'll need to shim to maximize the lift and duration and overall scavenging effects. As an engine machinist its one of the leading causes of premature cam / lifter wear and wiping out your valve seals. Not to mention leaving free power on the table.

Yo Tony! I had a sbc 350 in a S10 in the 90"s, it was a blast, but some issues I had were, the exhaust headers seemed to cook the steering box which caused a ton of play in steering (looks like you guys have similar issue), and the other big problem was the big torque slowly ripped the firewall across the bottom where it meets the floor on both sides. (drivers side was worse iirc). Eventually, hot air and exhaust fumes were constantly blowing into the cab. Keep an eye on the firewall.

The marine 4.3 has a nice SPFI, it's iron but the benefits make up for it. The lv 3 is aluminum but stock and on gas makes like 285hp. Just sinister food for thought.😊 Great video by the way.😊

I just been enjoying watching these s10 videos, I am doing something just like this with my 1985 Chevy s10 blazer but I'm doing a restoration and keeping it na and making a nice cruiser. But these videos has been quite helpful for me to see what things I had to change out on my original carb powered 2.8 v6 4x4 and even if you guys were going to do a v8 swap for the Sikeclone, you would be dealing with many clearance issues with the 4wd frame which you guys would find a way to make it work but I seen people raise the body by 2" to fit in 350 and it still has clearance problems so seeing you guys doing the 4.3 and making it go fast without to much compromise made me change my build idea from a v8 powered 4wd blazer to a nice and clean 4.3 swapped blazer with all the functionality it had from the factory so keep up the good work and I really hope you guys get this truck all dialed in and make a monster like no other

I had a 95 Chevy astro van it was 2 years old when purchased with only 14,000 miles on it. Biggest piece of krap I ever owend. The alternator went out before 30,000 miles. Then, at 34,000 miles, the fuel pump went bad. Then, at 80,000, the MAF sensor needed to be replaced. At 120,000, the fuel injection spider needed replaced. It never ran right after, even though I put another 120,000 miles on it. I replaced the water pump. Then, the catalytic converter. I hadn't driven it much after 200,000 miles. I put it in storage. When I got there, it was surging when idling. 6 months later, it was totally submerged under water after the big flood of 2013, where 5 of the rivers in the region flooded. It was a total loss. I liked it. It was comfortable, handled good, got between 18 to 24 miles per gallon. Was offered $1200 for it before it went into storage. Should've taken it.

Also, when running a corvair hard, sometimes they would throw the engine cooling belt, you could instantly hear it, then you had a few minutes of increased horsepower, maybe 15%, the ya gotta shut it off and put the belt back on.

My first truck was a red 89 S-10. Buffed to correct the oxidized pink paint, rims, lowered 3 rear and 2 front, stereo, 1 flipped breather cap and a aftermarket steering wheel was as far as I got hahaa! The 4.3 was also available in boats. The vortech heads on them give more compression. Boats also had carbs in them much longer so if anyone is looking for a cheap 2 barrel intake you can find one there.
