Hi Pabi, I absolutely love this pattern! The gold leaf is best applied with gold leaf sizing, it's a thin glue. You brush it on the area you want the gold leaf, leave it till it's tacky to touch and then gently press the gold leaf on it and with a dry brush, brush off excess. I have found that to be the easiest way to apply gold leaf. 😁🤗

I use white latex tub caulk and black canvases from the Dollar Store.

Hi Pabi, this looks stunning, also love seeing more SA KZbinrs :). For gold leaf, you need a glue that dries ‘tacky’. So that the gold leaf sticks to the stickiness and then you use a paint brush (not too hard) to remove the excess. Tombow green lid glue is what I use for invitations, stationery, etc. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work on a canvas 😊

I used gold leaf about twice, quite tricky because of how light it is. it does last and looks great even over time

I think that maybe why you thought that the gold leaf would just stick, Is because in cake decorating, we also use edible gold leaf, and we just stick it onto the buttercream, we don't really use glue😅. This Is a beautiful canvas though, and I'm certainly going to try it out❤.

Gold leaves need a special glue called mission ( french word) then when it’s half dry or almost dry u put the gold leaves. Then u clean the extra gold leaves with a dry brush. It should stick only to the places that has the glue.

if You want to hold a gold leaf without ruining its shape or breaking it, then rub a little talcum powder on your fingers or palms and that does the trick. Gold leaf sizing is the general adhesive used for gold-leafing and its available under different names in different regions. Also, I prefer letting the gold leaf dry for a little while before brushing off the excess.

You can use wall mud or spackle. Hardware stores carry wall mud ( for dry wall) and spackle as well. You might find spackle at a dollar tree as well.
