DIY THRIFTED CHINA CABINET MAKEOVER | Vintage Furniture Flip + Restoration

Since we have to stay at home with the Corona virus lockdown, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to catch up on DIY projects. I've worked so hard on this china cabinet, so much stripping and sanding! It was one of the worst DIY furniture makeovers I have ever done in terms of time and effort but I could not be happier with it! The dark wood nicely highlights our white dishes and is much more elegant than the orange-crackled finish. Stay safe!

Three years ago we bought our first house and wow it’s been a journey! We renovated ourselves in a true DIY way pretty much everything (95%) because…. mostly we are cheap, but also cause we can’t let go of micromanaging the renovations. This channel will be my attempt to show the end result of all this hard work. It’ll also be a lot of before and after, makeovers, DIYs but who knows what’s coming!

Looks so much better now than the ugly yellow crackle. Lots of hard work on your part but it paid off! Your piece is quite possibly from the early 1900s or 1920s. Furniture was mass produced then too and your piece is not very art deco style. Keep making videos, you have good content.

Such a great tutorial. I love how you show your work and what you went through to get this piece re-stained. It looks amazing. and you really motivated me to go the distance and take off the varnish to get a darker stain on my piece. It is much smaller and doesn't have any paint. I have some experience with refinishing old wood pieces, I have redone the shellac finish on my piano twice. Using the technique named French Polishing. I would like to get a similar look to my curio cabinet. Thanks so much for sharing and showing your work. Labeling the pieces is such a smart idea and will help me put the cabinet back together.
