Thanks for the great video! Your instructions were so clear and simple. I just finished making this for my little girl. She's been obsessed with little red riding hood for a few weeks, so she's very excited to have her own cape now.

What a great tutorial and sweet cape! When my daughter (now a young mum herself) was about 8 I sewed her a red velvet "red riding hood cloak" which she wore over dresses to parties and when a flower girl at my brother's wedding. Now I have a little granddaughter who would have loved it... I gave it away though! So now, I shall follow your tutorial and make one both for her and for her doll. Fingers crossed!

Awe love those memories! I’m sure your granddaughter will love it just as much! Especially with a matching one for her doll. 🥰 So sweet!

So cute and just what I needed. I think i would probably put Velcro on the ribbon to fasten for quick , safe release but 2 Halloween capes, here we come!

Velcro would be a great idea too! Have fun! ✂️ 🧵

Hey Gemma! Thanks for stopping by! I’m so sorry but I don’t have an actual cuttable pattern for this on my site. I just wrote out the dimensions on that graphic. In the future I would love to learn how to draft patterns and share them so I apologize for the inconvenience on this project! ❤️

Scissors ✂️ struggle is real! I have to hide mine

My oldest grabbed my fabric scissors ✂️ for his paper project the other day and I think my eyes had flames in them! 🤣 How does he NOT understand this yet?! Lol! Glad I’m not the only one that struggles with the scissors lol

Hi. When you are attaching the hood to the cape. Are they right sides together? It’s hard to know because your lining and main fabric are the same.
@rustichoney2 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth! Good question! At about 4:10 in the video I begin to explain this step. For my cape, I had two layers so I created a "sandwich" to hide the raw edges completely. With printed fabric (or a fabric that's not the same on both sides as mine was) I believe you would lay down the first cape piece with right side up... insert the hood right sides together... and the second cape piece (top of sandwich) would be right side down. I would definitely pin this in place and carefully flip it open to ensure you'll get the finished printed look you're going for before sewing in place (it will depend on your fabric and lining choices). I sure hope this helped! :)

I'm in the midst of making this in white fun fur and muslin and have been puzzling about this exact problem. Thanks!
