Very nice. You should look into using QR codes to label what's in your totes. I just built an outdoor tote rack system and I took photos of the items in each of the totes then uploaded them to my website and printed QR codes that linked to each photo. So now if I ever need to know whats in the tote, I just scan the QR code with my phone and it opens the photo of the contents of that tote on my phone. It's great to have when one of my other family members are looking for something, they don't have to dig through each tote, they just scan the QR code.

Thanks. That is a very smart idea, thanks for sharing. Might try that down the line. For now, printed labels will do the job.

What did you use to create the QR code? Was it a hosted site?

Very helpful, I plan to build this with my son for 2 places at our house. I'm going to do 5 wide x 4 high for the totes and add casters to the bottom of the frame so we can move it around or out of the way if need be.

@@hasanalhasani luckily there aren’t to many measurements, so should be good. I am Originally from South Africa, and it took me a while to get used to inches and feet (so confusing) but now thats all i work with. Good luck with your build.

How strong are the totes? How heavy of materials can you put in each tote?
@SamberStyle
@SamberStyle Ай бұрын
The totes themselves are very sturdy and can handle weight. Ive loaded them up almost to heavy to lift and they are pretty solid.

I did mention it at the end of the video also in one of the comments. It is going to depend on how you want to build yours. You can also do a quick pause on the video and just count them! Really basic design and straight forward. Good luck with your build.

Okay…but how would you build this for an outdoor carport… with no enclosed sheds or garage I am desperate for storage space! I was thinking this but entirely pressure treated and wrapped in cedar fence boards - making some doors for the front. Am I crazy? My only concern is climate changes like humidity and temperatures. The outside wall under the carport doesn’t get any snow or direct rain *except for drainage on the bottom.. hence why pressure treated would be the only way to go.. Help! My dad was always my project resource and he’s no longer with us 😢.. I feel like this could be done…

You should keep in mind that the plastic storage containers will break down in time if exposed to sunlight.
@SamberStyle

You are not crazy! Sounds like a good idea to me. Its gonna be heavy building it with treated and wrapping it with cedar, but if i was to build something like that i would do it like you said, and just make sure its watertight. If its enclosed the plastic containers will be just fine and not exposed to the sun and elements!👍🏻
@caitriley1255

@kennethspengler9934 one of the reasons I would enclose it - also just for security. While I wouldn't store expensive irreplaceable items, don't want an invitation

31". Remember, he cut them to this length so he could get 3 full sliders from one 8' stud. You cannot get 3 at 32" from a 96" stud because you have to allow for the blade width. The last slider would be less than 32".
