Okay for anybody else to watch this video. I was having a problem where I had come back home and check my bike the next day after having no previous issues. I was about to head out for a trip, but then it started making that belt screeching sound. He was talking about in the video so I panicked and called my mechanic friend. He said it doesn’t sound like any cylinder issues or pistons so check the compression. We checked the compression and everything came back fine so then I went and watched your video. Immediately found out what was wrong with my bike by pulling off my stater cover even though my bike is a ZX 10 R 2008 SE. Thank you so much I thought I was going to have to replace a goddamn engine again.❤

Thanks so much for this video man. I was on a ride today and started hearing a rattling sound /tumbling sound and the occasional squeal like you mentioned. My first thought was to check my clutch plates when I got home but then my bike decided to just die and I ended up needing a jump to get it home. I'm going to check this tomorrow. Thanks again!

@@TheChemistDIY I was experiencing an electrical gremlin recently on my 05 750. The display went down and engine shut off. Started back up immediately and shutdown a second time. Started back up after cooling off for 30 min and road home with no issue. Battery, RR and stator working properly. So, I ended up going through all grounds and cleaning every connector and fuse with electrical contact cleaner and sand paper. I found lots of old dialectric grease that had hardened(nasty red)and also their was corrosion on fuses and inside connectors. 15 year old bike in humid tropical environment needed a good cleaning. Rectifier 5 prong connector was corroded inside, so popped each one out to clean individually. Rectifier wires get very warm and rectifier was hot, but back looked good. Im wondering if all the old dialectric grease and corrosion isn't the root cause for alot of these charging issues. I noticed a slight improvement in the voltage when at idle 14v to 14.2v after cleaning everything.

Glad it helped you out. Its very rear that this occurs but it can happen as I said. It may be a pain in the ass to remove in the future but be sure to use some blue lock tight so it doesnt happen again.

I know this is an older video but take the thread count and dimensions of the bolt and type of thread. Then sorce the bolt elsewhere. Secondly when installing those bolts use a thread locker liquid. Choose something like blue loctite?. Whatever the service workshop manual suggests?.

Mine is doing that rattling noise now my GXSR 600. I believe the bolts are too long in length, I think it’s best to use shorter bolts to lock down the stator.

Yeah, if your not using the OEM bolts then it's best to get something similar in length. Last thing you want is metal shavings floating around in your engine oil. I would look into this quickly if this is your issue. Check the magnet drain plug and see if it has More then normal shavings.

@@TheChemistDIY Not sure where the magnet drain plug is, but I will look into it tho. I think its doing that because I switched the OEM Stator cap to an aftermarket Stator cap. So I may need some shorter bolts. I will check and get back to you. This is depressing not knowing the issue LOL because I am trying to get it ready for the beach this summer.

Magnetic Drain plug = is just the bolt you remove when performing your oil change. At the end of that bolt (thread end) you will see a divot with a discolored center.. that center divot is a magnet that colocates metal shavings floating around in your engine oil.. so obviously you would have to change your oil when pulling the drain plug to check.. yeah aftermarket parts can be a bitch sometimes.. I always ask myself.. "why do they have to look so cool but yet do so much damage".. lol.

Sounds like the STVA. This will usually throw an FI C28 code. Take a look through my videos, I have 3 that cover this.. the last being the most recent titled permanent fix. Let me know it that worked for you their..

Sorry for the late response, but no you don't need to remove the oil although some oil will leak out as you remove the cover but it's very minor

Yes sir!.. that's exactly the sound.. do not run the bike any more until you tighten them up or you will run them down.. add a little blue loctite and let it dry overnight.

Well that was not it sadly. Stator and flywheel all intact. Clutch side is the same. Everything looks newish.

@@Taw19850 man I for sure thought that was the problem, sounds exactly the same.. have you checked your exhaust pipe bolt's where they mount to the frame? Slap on a pair of gloves and grab the piping to see if the noise quites down.. definitely sounds like something loose.

This should be hand tight without over tightening.. just make sure to use blue thread locker to keep them in place..

I’m having the same sound and same scratches but my stator isn’t loose. I did drop it after a wheelie. Do yall think it could be the crankcase cover?

Yeah, if your seeing scratching or gouging inside the stator flywheel hub then most likely the cover is bent causing misalignment issues. There pretty cheap on Amazon and you can have it in like 2 days with prime. I've ordered one in the past and still have it on till this day

Hell no.. if the screws come out they fall into the engine casing .. that said the stator also falls into basket that's spinning at a 1000 revolutions per second. Talk about a bad day!

​​@iamcharles2286 thanks for the sub. There's nothing special you need to do. Just as the video says, clean out the metal shavings, replace the screw if yours was damaged like mine. Your local big box store should have a nuts n bolts section that you can take one their and match up. But most importantly, when you reassemble, be sure to use BLUE loctite to keep those screws from backing out.. you wont have anymore issues after this. I've posted an Amazon affiliate link below to the product if your unfamiliar but you can get this at any automotive store. amzn.to/49YqgSs Lastly, if the screw(s) have been shaven down, you are going to need to perform an oil and filter change and be sure to clean up the magnetic drain plug. It will no doubt have collected all the fine metal shavings in your oil and you don't want that floating around in your new oil. If yours was really bad like mine was, ride the bike for a few days and flush the oil again. You don't want any residual shavings coming of parts and into your engine. Good luck

Alan Gaudry YES..! Lesson learned. Even after performing this replacement a few times and never having an issue I would advise everyone to use Bule Lock Tight so this doesn't happen to you. You just never know when a bolt will decide to back out.
