Nice job. I have the guide, and have been using it alone. That method still allowed me to stray from the edge. This looks like the perfect solution, without having to buy a $1,000 Festool system. One mod, you might consider would be a 1" protrusion at the front that you could set on the cut line instead of subtracting an inch from the measurement.

Exceelnet idea and build video. I have the very clamp from HF and I love to make this jig, so that I dont have to worry putting pressure on the edge and focus on the cut. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for going to the trouble of showing us how you made this sled...and I'll probably start using those threded inserts too.

Never cross cut with material touching fence. Use an offset block
@beetlebailey30346 жыл бұрын
pat mac why? Please explain.
@patmac6 жыл бұрын
When cross cutting a short piece you can not hold it to the fence safely. If you use an offset block attached to the fence, you remove the risk of getting the piece pinched off and kicking back. There are many examples on the web. Let me know if you need help finding an example

That doesn't apply to circular saws that do not have a fence. It only applies to table saws that have a fence. Watch the video before you post.

Scott Tovey - check out the video at 2:09. Never use a fence and miter gauge together on a table saw without an offset block attached to the fence. Safety first. 🇦🇺

@@scotttovey Clearly you didnt watch the video and just wanted to make a bone head comment. Hes clearly talking about how hes using the table saw.

A couple of things good sir. The Good: First, I love your idea. This would make sure any pressure I need to put on the saw is downward and forward, making sure I don't accidentally move my edge guide (it's happened to me a few times). Second, the tapering you did to make the sled ride over obstacles is a great idea. Third, I am impressed at how detailed you explain your work. The Bad: First, I think you need to improve your lighting during the parts where you address your subscribers. As well as loose the cap as it casts a shadow on your face Second, please get rid of the cheesy orange veneer backdrop you are using. It takes attention away from you and is quite distracting, as well as unpleasant to the eyes. Overall, this was an excellent build video. Subscribed.

You don't really need to build the sled, just use that clamp as the actual edge guide
@ChrisGagnonDIY7 жыл бұрын
+KEYONTECHONG you don't need the clamp or the sled you can just use any thing that is straight and clamp it to the edge. The point of this is that you don't put pressure against the guide causing it to move while you cut.
@jaredj6316 жыл бұрын
Nope, I have one. it sucks. It looks good but doesn't work as well as you would think. His idea is great, for things needing real accuracy you need to clamped straight edges to accomplish this. It's too time consuming
@terapiu6 жыл бұрын
Actually I have one...and there's no way to move it sideways, granted it's not from harbor freight or something, don"t really remember the brand, might be trend.But it clamps very well on stuff...the downside is I need to measure the distance from the saw's fence to the guide...but the block of wood or even a strip of wood is a good ideea.
@sjeverett754 жыл бұрын
@@terapiu you dont have to measure. Make the mark where you're gonna cut. Then put your saw with the blade on the waste side of the cut and make another mark where the saw needs to be.

This design is rookie. Just imagine a table saw sled. Now turn it upside down. Make the new trak about 12inches wide and as long as you need.The slot runners idea becomes two strip edge guides for left and right side of your saw base plate. Your saw runs flat, and true, trapped by the edge guides, even for angle cuts. If your build is precise, the trak will square up to your work, and the kerf created is your cut line reference. And you don't need no add on base plate for your saw. And you can make it with shop scrap already paid for. THIS is the ultimate DIY tracksaw trak.
@TheMadJester1595 жыл бұрын
The way you make some of your table saw cuts is just asking for kickback. People that dont use tools properly should not be doing how to videos.
