I built a combination underwater housing / Downrigger weight for my GoPro camera so I can see how the fish are reacting to my lures.

Great video on GoPro Cheers. I fish all the time and I capture some great footage of my catches

Yup, the lure action, the speed, changing directions, fish being active/hungry or not, fish being there or not, atmospheric pressure, water temp, visibility etc... all these have to align right and we have a strike, or else we have a nice day on the water washing lures 😅. Thank you for the video. I am in the process of making one of those housings. Used the same ABS reducer to house the camera, however i am not using the housing as the weight. I have a chain through the body of the housing, one end connects to the downrigger weight clip, the other has a clip that connects to the weight. That way I can change weights as needed and the body of the housing therefore is shorter.

Glad you liked the video! That’s a good idea with the chain… I lowered my camera down to 180’ just to see if it would pick up anything, went to reel it up and the downrigger cable broke🙄 Spent 3 hours trying to snag the cable. Lost everything! I’m now in the process of building a new housing 😉

@@WildEdgeOutdoors Sorry to hear about your loss, but consider it an opportunity to build an even better one. Was your cable steel or braid like mine?. I like the quietness and thinner diameter of the braid but it doesn't give me the same confidence as my old steel cable for some reason.

@@IcecyOutdoors my old cable was steel. I bought the downrigger used and never checked the condition of all of the cable.🙄 It was corroded at the part that didn’t get used much… I switched to braid also 👍😁

Go in a S motion in your kayak to make the lure moe active.

Good suggestion 👍 I usually do turn left and right so the lures slow down and speed up…😁

Try dabbing some scent to the bait. Fish is up close and that scent might just trigger the bite

I actually did have scent on the bait…😉 Must have been the wrong scent 😜

Do you think the trolling speed varies will trigger a bite?
@WildEdgeOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely! That’s why a lot of bites come when turning… the outside rod speeds up a bit and the inside rod slows down. Sometimes I just pedal faster or stop peddling just to vary the speed. 😁👍
